My rant about Caprica.

Ya know I loved that show very much also. Just as I was enjoying the memories I got jarred out of my chair by the thought of SeaQuest DSV. I was willing to give it a shot untill it went off the reservation early on with all the reset of nations. That and the TNG effect AKA the Wesley Factor. That actor was good but every darn week wait he has an idea. ENOUGH! Sad to what happened to him after the show was off.

Now if RDM VTBS I’d be happy a a pig in slop. Atleast it wouldn’t be DSV Thankfully.

All this talk of giant sea creatures makes me want to watch VTBS now.

I think as with any BSG fans, I’m looking forward to Caprica, but also know that not every tv show can start off like BSG (with its amazing mini series and 33 first episode - I still remember that feeling I had when I watched those, and boy, it was tremendous) and might need a couple of episodes to really get things going and to get that tingly feeling. I have no doubt Caprica would be a good show - just how good remains to be seen.

Having said that, I think my ‘beef’ (well, more like a paperthin slice of deli meat) with Caprica is that I preferred the Virtuality pilot, and kind of wish that Virtuality was the ‘post BSG show’ instead.

After watching Virtuality, I think some of the elements of that show will make their way into Caprica. What is reality? If you copy a mind and download it into two seperate bodies, who is the “real” one? Is there something more, something beyond our understanding that connects with us in a real way?

So I think you will get your wish. Especially since Virtuality was cancelled. I don’t see why they would shelf ideas they may have come up with for Virtuality. If RDM does podcasts for Caprica, I wouldn’t be surprised if he mentioned something along the lines of, “We originally had this idea for Virtuality…”

Ooooh, that’s a good point. I hope you’re right!
