My Beer Homework

So have a freelance gig with a creative consulting company that helps other companies brainstorm (they call it “ideation,” the 21st-century’s most ridiculous new word). This gig is pretty much covering the cost of my trip to L.A., but it requires me to have opinions about beer. I rarely drink–not for moral reasons, just taste and preference–so I thought I’d cull the Hive Mind’s opinions.

I hope to come up with at least enough to BS my way thru this session tomorrow. Here’s the homework as it was given to me–you don’t have to do it for me, just give me your opinions if you’ve had any of the beers they mention. Thanks!

For Tuesday:
Please go to a liquor store with a large beer selection and:

  1. Purchase and consume Landshark beer. If you have the opportunity, try to have your beer at a restaurant/bar. If not, home works fine- just be sure to consume some Landshark! Create a small collage (no bigger than one sheet of paper) of what Landshark means to you and what your experience was like drinking it. Be prepared to discuss your experience, reaction to the beer and your collage.

  2. Purchase and consume one of three subpremium beers: Busch, Busch Light or Natural Light. Again, if you can consume your beverage at a bar or restaurant, go for it! Create a small collage (no bigger than one sheet of paper) of what the brand means to you and what your experience was like drinking your choice. Be prepared to discuss your experience, reaction to the beer and your collage.

For Wednesday

  1. One high-end beer item (A craft beer/microbrew or import) that you think is cool, interesting, and different. Go beyond the basic brands of regular Budweiser, Bud Light, Miller, Coors, Corona, etc.

  2. One flavored alcohol beverage (non-beer) that you think is cool, interesting, and different. [FABs are 3-15% alcohol, can be carbonated or non-carbonated. Includes things like malts, ciders, other flavors etc.]

Do a write-up on both products regardingwhyyou believe the products are cool, interesting, and different. Be prepared to do a show-and-tell.

Prior to the session, please complete the following homework assignment, and remember to bring it with you on Wednesday!
