Mr. Lister, Sirs Incomplete Grand Theory of Lost

Mr. Lister, Sirs Incomplete Grand Theory of Lost
Or
Why Ben Linus is the Good Guy.

I believe that Lost has many connections with the Bible. Now I am not a scholar by any means of the bible and I got most of my information from Wikipedia. But I think the story of Widmore and Ben and the fight for the Island is the story of Luicifer his banishment from heaven and his attempt to get back in, which would be the War between Heaven and Hell.

The Bad:
Lucifer (the fallen Angel) – Charles Widmore.
Abaddon (the King of the Locusts) - Mathew Abaddon
Swarm of Locusts – Keeamy and crew
The Fallen Angels– Dharma

The Good:

God/Heaven –Jacob/God
Jesus (the Savior) – John Locke
Archangel Michael (the good Angel of Death) – Ben Linus
Archangel Gabriel (the Messenger of God) – Richard Alpert
The Cherub (the Protector of the Heavens)– Smokie

Revelation 12:7-9 (New King James Version)
Satan Thrown Out of Heaven

7 And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, 8 but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them[a] in heaven any longer. 9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Charles Widmore who was the “leader” at one point claiming to lead “peacefully” (and you do that by shooting flaming arrows at people) for 30 years. One day “He” (how the Others have always addressed Jacob) had Widmore exiled from the Island. Jacob used Ben to trick Widmore into using the wheel thus forcing him away from the island this is also when the Purge occurred thus Ben and the Others rid the Island and they were cast to our mortal realm. Obviously Widmore wants revenge. He sets in motion ways to find a way to bring about the end of the world which culminates with his return to the Island.

First he gets Desmond to the Island where he will eventually not push the button that will bring the flight 815 down. Next he sends his minion Matthew Abaddon to persuade John to go on his Walkabout.

Now previously in the life of John Locke we have see Richard Alpert showing up. As he represents the messenger of God he tries his best to guide Locke down the path to the Island so he can claim is rightful place. Once on the Island he continues to be his Guide on his journey to become the leader of the Others.

So John does get on the plane and ends up on the Island. He encounters the Smoke Monster The protector of the Island. Smokie sees John for what he is and at that time John sees the Island for what it is. On the Island John takes the necessary paths he must take to fulfill his destiny.

Off the Island Widmore is still planning his return to the Island. He sends out the freighter with Abaddons minion Keemy and crew. They are the first wave of the pending War. Ben makes a misguided attempt to save the Island. John later takes his turn and leaves the Island but before he is told that He must die to save it and his friends that he must make the Sacrifice.

Widmore also knows this. He needs to have Locke die and be reborn to bring about the second coming in order for him to start the war. Which is why he also needs to get Locke back to the Island. Widmore knows that John will die and that by going back to the Island he will rise again.

When Ben finds Locke about to hang himself he knows that he must prevent this. Suicide is a sin and by killing himself he would cease to be the chosen one. But Ben also knows that Locke must be “sacrificed” which is why he kills him. Ben’s parting words to Locke were perhaps the truest words he has every spoken.

Ben then makes his attempt to finish Lockes journey of brining everyone back to the Island. It was Lockes death that pushed Jack over the edge that convinced him he needed to go back. And like Ben said it only takes one person. The rest fell in line and we saw them get back to the Island and we see Locke reborn.

That’s all I have so far. I know there is more I can eventually come up with. I still need to place the Losties. I am thinking they will fall into the apostles to some degree. I am also having trouble placing Daniel Farday and Crew. First I was thinking they could be the 4 Horsemen but that does not seem completely right. But I will continue to refine it and fix it up as we learn more. As Jack from Jay and Jack says, “That’s my theory and I’m sticking to it”

I will update this as episodes progress.

Nicely done sir.
Don’t get me started on Biblical references on Lost, they are countless.
I don’t think there is a direct linear parallel though, like say Joyce’s “Ulysses” and Homer’s “Odyssey”,
but who knows you may be on to something.
BTW, I wonder what Jack will say if Rose and Bernard join Dharma, I’m sure Jay will never hear the end of it.

thank you for your sharing.
you really did a good job.

Very interesting, I love reading lost theories.

Wow, that is good. I’ve had so much trouble nailing down anything in that show. Very well done sir.

Great theory, Sir. I have always been of the belief that Ben is ultimately on the side of good and the Island. I think however that something went very wrong when the Alex incident occurred and now Ben has probably done something that was more about his interests than the Islands. Glad to see there are other Ben supporters around.

Had a couple of random theories about Jacob and The Others list and The Others:

I think that John is another Alpert. Alpert, at one point, was resurrected and is now an emissary of the island. However, they aren’t the true leaders. I believe that Jack is actually the next Jacob and that John was resurrected to guide him to this place, just as Alpert originally guided Jacob. Maybe the way that John can “help” Jacob is by allowing Jack to take his place.

Back in “Shape of Things to Come”, Ben thought Alex wouldn’t be killed because Others can’t kill Jacob’s people and this was “changing the rules to him”. However, in a later scene, Widmore said that Ben killed Alex because Ben acted out of favor with Jacob and THIS led to Alex’s death

Widmore and Ben can’t kill each other because they are both Jacob’s people. As a child, we see that Ben was expressly saved by Jacob

Charlie had to die no matter what Desmond did to save him because he killed Ethan…one of Jacob’s people (was allowed to be born on the island and saved from the purge). In the same way, Anna Lucia was doomed for killing Goodwin.

Haven’t seen the latest episode, so apologies if this has already been refuted.
