Although this will be of interest to only a minority of people on here - ie those who live in the UK - it is nonetheless great news. On the 6th and 7th of November the National Space Centre is hosting there sci-fi themed “Movie Mania IV” weekend. This is frakking awesome news.
Saturday is Red Dwarf day, as there will be Chris Barrie who plays inestimable the hologram Arnold Rimmer, Norman Lovett who was Holly their shipboard computer with an IQ of 6000 and computer senility, and Chloe Annett who played Kristine Kochanski the true brains of Red Dwarf. Also there on Saturday will be Warwick Davis, who needs no introduction. Meanwhile Sunday will be Torchwood day, as Kai Owen who plays Rhys Williams will be there, along with Ben Lloyd Holmes who was the operative, and Anthony Lewis who starred as Tommy Brockless.
One of the biggest draws of the day will be The Alien Encounter Experience, a live-action horror experience. Escorted by a platoon of Colonial Maries, you enjoy a guided tour through the high tech laboratories of Weyland-Yutani’s Biological Research Facility, who are examining the recently recovered creatures from planet LV-426. Don’t worry; nothing can go wrong, no really. But don’t worry if something happens, for Trevor Steedman - who played Pvt. Wierzbowski from Aliens - will be on hand throughout the weekend, and is an awesome guy too.
Also in attendance will be a plethora of Colonial Marines, Storm Troopers Jedi, along with talks and Q&A sessions with the actors. The Replica Prop Board be present too, displaying there incredible work, which is frankly awe inspiring – if you have ever wanted to try a pulse rife for size, these are the guys to see!
The best bit about this event: all the money they collect goes to charity!
