ok… what does this say about Voyager?
The Champions in each bracket are Kes VS Neelix!

so sad… i’d take Neelix or Kes on a trip with me over Keiko anyday… can you imagine Keiko nagging at you the whole fraking way to Risa? I’d rather have Neelix bugging me, at least he just wants attention. and NOT being a vulcan means i won’t tempt Neelix to break down my icy exterior.
Anyway, between Neelix or Kes, i have to vote for Neelix, because… well, Kes is nicer to look at…
Neelix all the way!
hansioux, grats on breaking 2,000 posts.
Neelix for sure. I look at it this way. Kes only stuck around for 3 seasons, roughly, so she didn’t have the opportunity to get under my skin as much. Easy on the eyes, hard on the nerves though.
Keiko, though she’d made it through NextGen and DS9, was still around only once in a blue moon - the caveat being she was used WAY too much on DS9. Part-time character, part-time annoyance, though she had the potential of being in the back of your mind even after the show was over. I was dreading the thought that she might be back in the next show, much like O’Brien was probably dreading coming home every night.
Neelix is like that guy at work that you just can’t avoid. There in almost every episode, it’s like he’s at your job every hour of every day for 7 seven years straight…and yet somehow manages to find his way into your home at the end of your shift because, let’s face it, home is where you work and vice-versa. He takes the cake because you can’t divorce him and transfer on to the next station/ship like you can with Keiko.
Just my thoughts.
Kes was annoying in that sci-fi, super hippy, magic powers, Deana Troi way.
Neelix was annoying in the way that real people that you deal with daily are annoying. He is REAL WORLD annoying.
In the end Kes is guilty of being a kind of character that you feel you would rather not have in a series. She was a played out , uber emphatic, non-adventure character.
Neelix is the kind of guy that you simply hate, hate in real life, hate to see on tv, and didn’t really mind when people dumped him in the trash cans in 7th grade.
sure we had few votes, but it’s not even close. 1 day left!
Well, I guess they win for most annoying (and disturbing) onscreen couple.
So, Neelix. Really? I didn’t mind Neelix. He was a fun character, and very loyal (like a pet. Not sure that helps my case). I enjoyed his banter with Tuvok. It’s always good to see someone chafing the repressed and snooty Vulcan. I found Ensign Kim far more annoying than either of these characters.
IMO, Keiko should wear this crown.
Oh. Um, I just noticed something. Let me place a disclaimer here. I don’t hate or have a problem with Asian actors. I love naughty Hoshi and Swashbuckling Sulu is the Man!
talos, maybe this just shows how Voyager is not as popular among fans… I admit Kes and Neelix are annoying as a couple, even I disliked the stories that came out of them being together, but on their own they were pretty awesome characters.
Very strange, because I’m the reverse. I couldn’t stand Neelix. If he had the charisma of G’Kar or Mollari, or the comic relief and timing of Vir (all from B5), he wouldn’t be so bad. I think the main difference between Neelix and the three I just mentioned is it seemed Neelix was purposely written to be annoying while the other three all had redeeming qualities and interesting plot arcs. Neelix was just there…and annoying.
I liked Kes and Ensign Kim. I was disappointed when Kes left and enjoyed how Kim grew as the series progressed.
Keiko didn’t have the screen time to annoy me much and I’m amazed at the amount of hostility towards her. Could be just that I saw episodes featuring her spaced out from each other.
I do agree with you about Hoshi and Sulu however. d:
A “Most Annoying Star Trek Character Championship” that isn’t won by Keiko is like a Radio Hall of Fame without Howard Stern.
Come on. We voted.
Ppl have dissimilar views of annoying is all.
i do believe that Keiko just doens’t have the screen time to honestly compare. Assumeing one hates kess or neelix… they had story arcs in at least every few episodes. Keiko has appearences in like 19 episodes… mostly minor to the point of being unable to annoy.
Let’s be honest… I like Big Trouble in Little China… but I honestly understand that it’s a bad movie. I like blood sausage, but I am inteligent enough to understand that almost all other americans think it’s gross. You Kess and Neelix fans should be able to do the same thing. You might like them, but you DO know that most everyone else doesnt agree, don’t you? Surely you have known hundreds of fans and read countless forums that all agree that those guys suck? Just because you like them doesn’t mean they aren’t annoying… they jsut aren’t annoying to you. Picard is annoying to me… but I didn’t put him on the list.
Also, it doesn’t say anything about you that you like them. You aren’t the actors… so you shouldn’t have to defend them. We aren’t building camps for those that like Kess. When it comes to likeing Neelix and kess, just know that you are a minority and accept it.
I presume that was directed at me? If not, then my mistake.
I don’t so much like Kes and Kim as much as I don’t dislike them. If that makes sense. I’m not championing their characters. I just think there are worse characters. d:
I don’t mind being in the minority (story of my life), I just wish someone could explain why so many dislike Kes. Keiko’s anti-fanbase I understand I think.
fastcart, i think he is on the same side as you.
i am fine with the result. I think the arguement of “not enough screen time to be that annoying” comes from different approach to stats. It’s like asking who is better at hitting homeruns, some will say the person who hit the most career homeruns as the best homerun hitter, others will point to the batter with the highest HR/AB rate as the best homerun hitter.
I personally am the HR/AB kind of guy. Time-being-annoying/Screentime, I think Keiko took the win. Because I can think of many endearing things other names on the list did, but I have trouble remembering one for Keiko.
though i am sad that both finalists are from Voyager, because to me the best part about Voyager are the characters.
