I also remember the originals but I am pretty sure I rented them from the library on VHS.
I admit I was curious about the new incarnation, so I tried one YouTube video. A male artist I follow on DeviantArt is transfixed by the new series, and I wondered if I might like it. I was around and aware of the original series when it ran for the first time.
The result? I made it five minutes in to the episode before I had to stop it. For two reasons: I am far too old, and I am not a preteen girl.
More power to you if you like it.
Which episode did you watch? The first two aren’t the best.
The first one. As I mentioned, the episode turned me off extremely quickly.
Well, it may not be for you, but I’d give one of the later ones a try before you decide. Someone made a chart ranking the episodes for newbie appeal. I’ll try to dig that up.
I came in on episode 3&4 and was underwhelmed. But, I was ok after seeing the 1st episode in context. The 2nd episode wasn’t hot. But, I’m glad I stuck around for more.
Which episode sold you on it? I’ve got two in mind.
I’m sorry. I forgot the first two eps were two parters. So, after watching 3&4, then 1&2, I was interested. Nothing I’ve seen so far really “sold” me pe se. I remember enjoying 9&10 for some reason.
Here’s that handy viewing chart.
I find it odd that Suited for Success is ranked so low, but I’m in a creative field so maybe it appeals to me more than most. Swarm of the Century is MLP’s tribble episode, so that’s probably a good place to start for most around here.
I’m with you! Even if I was interested (and a girl) when the original toy line came out, I was also a teenager. Much too old.
So was I. The new version (make sure you’re looking at “Friendship is Magic”) is several orders of magnitude better.
