Point in fact Animatrix came out to garner hype for when Reloaded came out. Flight of the Osiris was even played before another Warner’s movie (Can’t remember which.) a few months b4 reloaded. Osiris ties directly into reloaded.
Don’t cloud the issue with facts! 
In any case, I think it makes sense to concentrate on the films first, since so many have never even seen the third (and some of us don’t remember it even if we did). As interesting as the Animatrix is, it’s still just peripheral information.
So are the SW prequels, and they did those first.
Personally, I had issues with that as well. All of us geeks of, shall we say, a certain age remember the insane mindfrak it was to find out that Darth Vader was actually Luke’s father. That moment on Bespin loses all of its impact when the audience knows all about it beforehand.
That said, it’s not my podcast, and no one cares about my opinion.

Honestly, I really don’t care about hair in general. It’s just hard not to acknowledge pretty hair like RDM’s though.
