might be for the best, i might need it to get through the French accent.
UD, I’m finding that this Matrix is a lot harder to, um, well I raelly like the action stuff but the philosophy I found kind of, well, it didn’t grab my attention. But now they’re blowing stuff up so I’m like a kid in a candy store
yes, the action is incredible. the thing that grabs me the most about the philosophy is it is centered around choice. as a person that believes in god and that he gave us free will it hits home to me. I believe the whole purpose of this life is centered around our choices and how we react to them. IMO
OK I see better now (lol actually watching the movie helps) how the whole fate / free will thing plays out a bit more.
i remember everyone cheering like “Michael” at the end of that freeway scene. I was holding my breath forever.
Morpheus is da man. with a speech like this I would follow him into the fire.
I can see how on the first watch some people had a hard time with this and the third movie. it is very involved and takes a few viewings to get everything strait. when you understand it all it is sooooo good.
I remember this scene! With the Architect. I always liked this scene.
Something very interesting (thinking numbers and all) - why is Neo the 6th? 7 is a much more ‘important’ number culturally right? So it’s super odd to me that he’s the 6th ‘anomaly’
And there he said it UD, the difference is choice.
And then, if it’s the 6th time this is all happened, Morpheus’ idea of what year it is is really off isn’t it?
The idea is pretty ingeneous - the One has to basically consent to genocide to save humanity, right?
I love when Neo saves Trinity. It is so sweet.
And it just ended…
But I forgot, who was that guy they show at the end?
Me too. I’m a huge romantic
Well that’s that then… thanks UD for making it so I’m not just talking to myself
…not that there’s anything wrong with that.
yeh, 7 is a important number in a lot of cultures. many times it is referred to as Gods number as it is in numerology. it is also in the bible a lot. I don’t know why they chose 6 for the movie. I do think it fits into the time line. Morpheus said Neo thought it was 1999 but it was closer to 2199. He also said AI was born in the early 21st century so if we assume that Neo is around 30 yrs (probably mid 20’s) that would be between 120-150 yr if the new one was born at the time the old one dies. problem is we don’t know how much time passes between incarnations. if when the first five reintegrated with the source code and the computers restarted the matrix, they restarted the one program also, it could fit. if they wait for a while between or the process of the one is random it could very well be 60+ yrs and you would be right. we do know that they don’t know the year and that they don’t know about the other ones. if that means it is 150-200 yrs they could very well be past the 30th century.
yeh, it is messed up to make anyone choose between those things. I do like that they say what makes Neo different is his love for Trinity. The needs of the one outweigh the needs of the many. Can we all chose to love? Neo loves Trinity so much he won’t give up on her. He loves Zion so much he…opps I don’t want to spoil if you haven’t scene the next movie. That is my philosophy on life and maybe Sean will make it a T-shirt.
Not to spoil anything because we learn a little more in the next film.
His name is Bane and he is a member of the hovercraft Caduceus. As he was waiting to jack out of the Matrix with a message from The Oracle, he was attacked by a clone of Smith and assimilated. Basically he is a clone of Smith now in the Real world.
It was fun. It is also nice to take a shower and spend a little time out of the gutter. Now I shall hold my breath and dive right back in.
Sorry I missed the party yesterday guys. I ended up spending the day with my nieces and taking them to see Clone Wars. I’ll try to make sure I’m around for Revolutions.
