Mass Effect Movie Challenge

So, with the announcement of a Mass Effect movie players of the game are naturally curious about how Hollywood will handle a franchise that is defined by the choice of the player. Will Shepherd by a Paragon? Will he be a Renegade? Will he be a mix of the two? Will he be a man or a woman?

This thread is dedicated to putting yourself in the Mass Effect screenwriter’s shoes. Don’t limit yourself to the handling of Shepherd…feel free to explore how you would handle the story, the characters, the romance plots, etc.

Begin.

I for one immediately had an idea about how to handle the character of Shepherd:

Comedy answer: Film the movie like they filmed the movie Clue and simply film it twice. Once with Shepherd being a bad-ass and one where he in an angel.

Real answer: I think my solution is an elegant one in its simplicity and total coverage of the problem. Instead of having one Shepherd have two, one man, one woman, one Paragon and one Renegade. This way the viewer can experience the value of both styles and there is substantial room for comedy as they bicker over the polar opposite choices they would make.

Lot’s of explosions! In 3D! BOOM!

My version would involve Shep, helmetted and androgynous, getting killed in the opening sequence while defending his crew (which also die). Sheps enemies woop and holler, excited at having finally taken down the mighty Shepard and team. Then, gunfire calls out from the shadows and the henchmen are all taken down. The leader of the evil doers does a rapid 180, victorious to scared witless. He opens fire into the darkness, emptying his weapon. Theres a beat, then out of the shadows steps Blasto! (the first Hanar spectre). Blasto levels his weapon and his gaze on the one remaining baddie and says: “This one has forgotten whether its heatsink is over capacity. It wonders whether the criminal scum considers itself fortunate?”
Blam! Fade to theme sequence, bond style, title scrolls down:

Blasto
The Jellyfish Stings!

Not original I know, but still hilarious.

I’d love to see the First Contact War, it would make a perfect movie as it could also set up the background of the ME universe and all the alien races and then for a sequel they could do Revelations. Both ideas would make great, action packed sci-fi flicks without having to put Shepard on the screen.

Yeah the discovery of the ME device and the first contact war make a lot of sense to me.

My question is which races they’ll be able to do live action, and which ones will require CG

Definite Live Action:
Human
Asari
Quarian

Could go either way:
Turian
Krogan
Geth (depends on type)

Definite CGI:
Hanar
Rachni
Salarian
