I’d really like to believe this theory because I’d be tempted to laugh if Bioware actually pulled something like this off because of all the controversy its caused. And I’ll admit to wondering myself if that little boy was actually even really there at times since no one ever reacted to him on Earth when he was trying to get in to the shuttle but honestly I’m not too bothered by the endings. Yes they weren’t what I was expecting, but I know how to keep my Shep alive at the end and I can completely ignore the ridiculous Normandy crash that makes no sense since it teleports someone who was running toward the beam with me from the Earth to the Normandy magically and write that off as a fanciful thought Shep had before passing out.
I like some of those theories. I especially like the one that says Shep was indoctrinated at the point where s/he has to run to the conduit (where the limping starts). Because that was the point where things got REALLY weird.
However, none of that is relevant because the game, as presented to us in near-controller-timing-out cut scenes, did not say that. It just had a weird-ass ending with people doing stuff that made no sense.
Were Stanley Kubrick still alive, I’d ask if he had anything to do with it.
A conversation with a buddy of mine about the ME3 ending, he pretty much summed up my thoughts.
“Mass Effect 3 was the PERFECT game…until the ending, then it’s as if somebody kidnapped the lead writer and replaced him with M Night Shymalan”
though I’d personally like to add…why did they shoot themselves in the foot in terms of making more sequels? Even just set in that universe, for example if you do one of the endings where the Mass Relays are destroyed…well guess what, everybody’s screwed, at least for quite some time, oh and that massive fleet and all those people? there’s no way Earth can support that population considering most of its surface seems to have been destroyed (and while it would eventually recover, that doesn’t exactly help there and then)
say they did some kind of sequel…would it have to be taking place hundreds of years in the future?
The worst part about Earth supporting that fleet is that the Turians and Quarians can’t eat Human food so what every food they have with them will most likely be it unless someone comes up with a way to quickly produce food they can eat.
I’m sure that won’t be a problem. Earth was in pretty good shape when we last saw it.
…er…
I was just talking to Javik after the mission on the Geth Dreadnought and I think he’s watched a bit too much BSG because he kept telling me to throw Legion out of the airlock ala President Roslin.
I didn’t see this previously in the thread, I apologize if it’s already been linked to
Until otherwise informed, for me this is how Mass Effect 3 actually ended.

That would actually be a frakking cool ending to see.
I got to the part where Garrus takes my shephard out on a date. SO CUTE. I am so glad I picked him in ME2, especially since it’s pretty slim pickings - or so it feels like, unless it’s because I locked out the other options since I was set on getting Garrus anyway and he joined the squad very early. Like James flirts with my Shepard, but by the time he gets his tattoo, he’s all talk and no action - relationship wise in ME3.
Anyway. Carry on.
The new romances in ME2 are the shuttle pilot, Traynor, and the reporter chick.
I thought Traynor was both brave and stupid for trying to put the moves on my FemShep when Liara was two decks below us, because if Liara found out there might not be very much of Traynor left for us to find.
Gamefront: RUMOR: Mass Effect 3 DLC ‘The Truth’ Due In April.
ADD: Bioware’s response: “…No, The Truth is nothing but a rumor.” @masseffect 3/17
Bioware: On the Mass Effect 3 endings. Yes, we are listening.
…we will be able to address some of your questions once more people have had time to complete the game
Sorry but I can’t find it now, one of Bioware twitter feeds responded to a rabid tweet complaint about “where in the hell is my free ME3 DLC?!?! OMGWTFBBQ!?!?” The response was something like, what made you think things have changed any? In other words, yes a free DLC is coming just as there was for ME1 and ME2.
I missed sexing Traynor because my Kinect bugged out and thought I said I didn’t want to, when I didn’t say anything at all. When I’m ready to see the game’s ending again (I’m not, yet. But those wounds will heal) Traynor’s going to be a priority
I did get the reporter to kiss (and we’ll presume do other things but that’s all they showed) my FemShep, and Liara never found out. Liara DID find out that I had gotten Bizzay with Thane in the hospital (He was my ME2 Love Interest) and we were actually on the outs for a while. I had given up on her, which is why I took a shot at the reporter. Anyway, Liara’s well connected but not perfectly connected
I’d feel too bad to cheat on Liara after all the trouble she went through to get my Shep’s body back. Plus after her father threatened my Shep I don’t really want her to be on the bad side of 2 powerful Asari and their biotics.
Operation Goliath lasts the weekend and started two hours ago.
As I understand it, the reward is one weapon drawn at random from the N7 Arsenal Pack. Doesn’t matter if you have Collector’s Edition or not, these currently are not available in multiplayer to anyone. The cool part is if one million Brutes are killed this weekend, everyone receives the reward whether participating in any multiplayer or not. Which is generous. Why it is almost like ME is a MMO already!
So I’m guessing this is just the second bribe of many yet to come to entice everyone into playing multiplayer and keep them there. The first ploy, of course, being the accursed Galactic Readiness modifier.
Well, it seems official… the way it ended was the way they wanted it to end.

They don’t seem to realize that we don’t care if it’s a bit vague and/or an unhappy ending (at least I don’t care). We just want it to not be stupid.
YouTube: Mass Effect 3 - Ending Movie Comparison - All the Colors
You do have a point. My reason for posting this suck-the-life-out-of-the-ending video is it best illustrates there is no Bad ending for the Synergy decision, no pre-rendered badness at least. I should make the distinction the video shows part of the ending since there are prior independent outcomes for Operations Sword and Hammer.
So a difficult decision faces every Shepard. What is the best solution to the inevitability of technological singularity? Is it that all life should evolve beyond man (“people” in Mass Effect vocabulary) and machine? Is such an evolution a natural process even, one that awaits all galaxies? Wouldn’t that make Saren right? Ponder that disturbing dilemma while watching EDI smile.
I think they are all bad endings but the Destroy comes the closest to being a good ending because it’s what Shepard has actually been fighting for throughout the trilogy. A total defeat of the Reapers. The only things I think it needs to make it a better ending is it not wiping out the Geth/Edi, destroying the relays and to include something that actually shows how the rest of our decisions affect the galaxy. If we cured the genophage what affect wiill that have, if we freed the Rachni queen both times how will that affect the galaxy, if we brokered peace between the Quarians and the Geth will it last. And I would love for that stupid scene with the Normandy to be gone. IMO the Control and Synergy endings seem too much like letting the Reapers win, sure they don’t get to destroy the races of the galaxy but they are still around and who’s to say that those fixes will last any longer than the destroy ending will according to the Starchild. Plus why should Shepard get to force synergy on to the entire population of the galaxy, I love Shep but s/he should not get that kind of power.
“My god, it’s full of plot holes!”
So in Arrival, destroying a mass relay obliterated an entire star system. In ME3, destroying all of them does nothing, apparently, aside from stranding everyone.
Oh, and TIL Joker can apparently fracture his thumb pressing a mute button, or break a rib sneezing, but crash landing? No problem!
I’m really disappointed that Bioware resorted to a MacGuffin like the “star child” to end this one-of-a-kind epic. I feel like I did at the end of Matrix 2.
EDIT: This pretty much sums it up.
You know the “star child” is a manifestation based on Shepards
Sub conscious right? But regardless of that it sucks
