Mass Effect 3 Spoilers thread

OK, drunk Tali is fun.

Glad Miranda survived Horizon.

Are there many war assets at and after Cerberus Base? I’m only at about 3500 and from what I understand, you need 5000 for the best ending. Might have to do some more multiplayer, no matter how bad I am at it.

No…i never touched multiplayer…and i was way above 5000…close to 6000…you just need to do every side quest and scan the hell out of every system, all the while dodging reapers.

There are some systems that don’t seem to have anything and others where I’ve scanned every planet but still have 1-2 things left (which tells me they’re fuel wreckage). Maybe some more clusters got unlocked after this mission. Is Cerberus Base the point of no return, or is there time for more searching between it and going back to Earth?

I’m guessing figuring out what the Catalyst is might be worth some pretty good strength (even Effective Strength).

Honestly it doesn’t matter what your strength is

It doesn’t? I could have sworn that I read somewhere that there are like 15 different endings based on your Effective Strength

it does matter…i believe some might say there is NO good ending…that they all suck equally…i do not agree myself…but anyways

this might help

Finished! Craaaaap what an… homage… to the Battlestar Galactica mythos. Ron Moore should be flattered. For BSG fans, well, this notion of humanity’s past, present and deterministic future in the galaxy is already familiar.

Yes. Yes, but you need access to the Citadel to receive credit for newly discovered War Assets and this is no longer possible once beginning the Cerberus attack.

After the game ends (after the credits) it kicks your now legendary Shep (the created filename is literally LegendSave.pcsav) back to the pre-Cerberus attack. Holy time travel. This is different from simply loading a save game from that point - you retain end game stats like your final reputation score. Seems many players have blue/red conversation options grayed out during the end game. This is due to insufficient reputation. So its not all about (galactic readiness modifier) X (total war assets). Or is it?

What’s the “good” ending exactly?

EXACTLY my point, seriously I kept thinking Miranda was going to join me at the end for the actual romance scene…and when I saw her on Horizon I was like “alright about time she joins back up with me!” …and then she just left with her sister and the only closure you get is saying goodbye when you talk to her via holo on Earth

that’s why I’m doing the Ashley Romance now on my 2nd run through, I’m hoping since your ME1 romances are actually on the ship with you that they’ll be more rewarding

the Reapers and Shepard die…but everyone else gets cake

GWC podcast #315 snagged Jennifer Hale and Maggie Baird interviews.

Good on ya Chuck, Audra, Sean! “Awestruck, suppliant felicitous sentiment,” token Elcor appearing in Mass Effect 3.

So has anyone heard the controversy about showing Tali’s face? Apparently if you romance her in ME2, you have a picture of her on your bedside table in your cabin.
Personally I think, if you’re gonna show her face at all, this is a lazy ass way to do it. Bioware really dropped the ball here. But to make matters worse, this creeped up on the internet that they used a stock photo from Getty images!

Seriously? You couldn’t even be bothered to create a custom image? Bioware has always been a pinnacle to me. A studio who could do little wrong. But this is just sad on so many levels.

So I just finished the shroud genophage cure mission and my heart is fucking broken. MORDIN! I’m so sad. I was hoping for another fakeout a la Grunt (which I was furious about initially, since I thought deciding to leave the clone behind would mean I get the Krogan commandos, including Grunt, only to have Grunt make his sacrifice 10 seconds later; so I was relieved when he survived after all that near death fight montage and the sad/heroic music), and Mordin will somehow escape or something … but … no.

My emotions! … over fictional characters in a video game. lol

OMG that is awesome! I need to check that out.

I’ve been avoiding this thread like the plague, but now that I’m finished I can read it. I think it’s a fitting end to the series, although I certainly wouldn’t object to some more content. There were some real tough moment in the game especially the death of Mordin. I’m not sure if that can be avoided, but it was very heroic. He’s one of my favourite characters. There seems to be quite a few different ways various things can play out depending on your imported save game. Quite a few characters who could die in ME2 play quite important roles. I’m curious about how the genophage cure plays out if Mordin is dead or how the whole Quarian plot unfold without Tali. Of course I’m not actually going to play though ME2 and allow them to die, that is unthinkable. I also wonder how things play out if the rachni queen is dead or if grunt is dead.

I got to put a bullet in Udina, finally. He was a total jerk. When I first met him in ME3 I thought the seriousness of the situation had improved his charachter (kind of like the bitchy news reporter that you can punch out, she was more sympathetic and even the Turian councillor seemed ok). But then he proves to be a total dick and launches his coup.

There was some great humour in the game. I loved the ad for Blasto 6, I would totally watch a hannar/elcor buddy cop movie. I’m a little unclear about the mechanics of the described hannar elcor mating, probably best not to think about it. I was a little disapointed when I got a mission to evacuate the Elcor homeworld from the ambassador. I was expecting a proper mission and getting to see the elcor in battle. It was a shame it just turned out to be a scanning mission Javik being confronted on the citadel by a Hannar was cool. Also Dr Conrad Verner. I loved the little reference to a certain ME2 glitch. I would have liked to have seen Kal Reegar back. I thought getting someone like Adam Baldwin to do the voice in ME2 meant they were setting him up for something big in ME3. Oh well, there was a reference to how he went out a hero.

The popular thing seems to be to bash the ending. I’m still not entirely clear, there are a number of factors that determine the endings available so I’ll want to read about the various alternatives before I comment.

I’m going to put ME3 down for a little while. I took my boy scout paragon of a soldier though first. After a certain amount of time I’ll take my neutral Adept through followed by my bad ass with a heart of gold renegade engineer.

Maybe I made bad choices (like siding with the Krogan against the Salarian plot), but I just finished the Cerberus Base (and why didn’t EDI and Miranda just tell me where it was when Illusive Man started being a problem?) and finished all the side missions, but I’m still only at 3700 Effective Strength. Guess you have to do multiplayer after all, despite what they said about getting the best ending without doing it.

Oh, and you can do remote procurement from Citadel stores between Cerberus Base and Earth, which doesn’t really make much sense.

Did you scan all the planets? There’s a lot of stuff that doesn’t really have a side mission attached. I barely played multi player on my first playthrough and I was above 6000 before I hit the Cerberus base.

Edit: I also sided with the Krogan. Frak that Salarian bitch. I wish I could’ve turned the tables and given HER the genophage.

The assumption is that the good ending is the destroy the Reapers and Shepard lives where you save Anderson, at least that’s what I’ve been able to make out of the endings. Although I do think that the bit with the Normandy is not actually what happens to the Normandy and the squad because it’s kind of stupid that the squad that was just down on Earth with Shepard a few minutes before Shep starts the run toward the beam miraculously ends up back on the Normandy running away from the fight that the Normandy is a part of.

N7 gauntlet thrown down two days ago:

From what I’ve been able to tell, NOBODY has beaten the Reaper faction on Gold yet. C’mon folks. That’s a challenge

And the challenge met. (As he says, first to make it to YouTube anyway) Vanguard narrowly edges out Infiltrator for top score and as you can see from the game play, wouldn’t have been possible without double duo Biotic detonations aplenty. In the early game CapitaineFromage (Salarian Infiltrator) has 16K points by the seven minute mark. Wow.

Did anybody else take the time to make Liara talk to her father on the Citadel? That has to be one of the funniest background conversations in the game this time around. I made my poor FemShep run around in circles for nearly an hour just to listen to that conversation over and over again, plus it was nice to actually turn out to be right about something.

How did you do that?
