Majel Barrett-Roddenberry to play Computer voice in the new Star Trek movie

This is sweet Majel Barrett-Roddenberry will reprise her role as the voice of the starship Enterprise computer in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming “Star Trek” feature. She’s voiced the role in four “Star Trek” TV series and three films.

Variety announced it here

She was the voice of the computer in all six TV series (although, only a couple episodes in Enterprise.)

The Star Trek: New Frontier series of novels (which I highly recommend by the way) have an awesome backstory about Number One/Nurse "Christine Chapel/Luxanna Troi/The Ship’s Computer’s voice: She’s all the same immortal person, and she’s the mother of Robin Lefler (ya know, that TNG guest star played by Ashley Judd).

Lets not forget the Animated Series as well.

Great. How cool is that?

Gene is smiling…

That’s one of the six. She did do a whole lot of voice acting besides the computer, though. I think she and Doohan did just about all of the non-recurring characters.

I loved that show as a kid; I remember watching it on Nickelodeon in the 80’s.

Oh sweet! I loved her as Lwaxana Troi

Can’t we tho? Please?

No.

Well the animated series is considered official cannon.

It’s cafeteria cannon. So, Spock’s Childhood, yes. Giant Clone Spock, no.

Oh no. The moderators are arguing. Someone open the envelope marked “Emergency Plan B.”
