Mac Running Very Slow

Over the last week my Mac has begun to get really unbearably slow. Think click. Wait. Shift to another application…hold. My research indicates a big reason can be low HD space as the Mac uses free space for virtual memory so I am trying to clean the HD up. Any other recommendations besides buying new memory in terms of maintenance? I also am repairing my permissions and checked my cache.

Mine does that sometimes and I find turning it off and on again sometimes helps it run a little faster. I think of it as giving it a rest.

Other than that, if someone does have other ways to help fix this I would like to know more too. Thanks Hivemind!!

Dammit, my earlier post was lost or something.

Run Activity Monitor and see if there’s a CPU hog among your processes.

Do you still have the install CD that came with it? If so I suggest booting to it and running disk utility from the CD. Run a disk repair and a permission repair from the CD. You might also try resetting the PRAM. Turn off the Mac hold down command+option+p+r and turn it on. You will hear the boot up chime, hold down the keys until you hear the chime again. Release the keys and let it boot up normally. Those steps should help you performance

Have you installed lion, recently. I heard there were. Compatibility. Issues. Maybe. It and a program. Are not playing well together.

I imagine he started replying to galaxy_rising and is still. Working. On. It.
