Lost Returns! Thursday, Jan 21 at 9pm!

And we have a new trailer; not the short one from last week but a nice, long one.

New trailer.

Let’s just say things don’t look good for our heroes. Things look bad. Really bad. Remember that good thing we saw once? Well, this doesn’t look anything like that.

ETA: Argh. That’s January 31, not 21. And you can’t edit the thread title. Frack.

Lost is something I haven’t watched, but with the current lack of new material I may give it a chance. Is it something you can just pick up on, or is it too complicated to just jump into?

hell yea!!

as much as i love BSG, lost will always be my top favorite. the only thing that sucks is that if the strike doesn’t end soon, they will only air the first 8 episodes of this season, which goes against their stated plan of 16 straight weeks of LOST for each of the next 3 seasons.

just a note: that link says the video is no longer available.

I kind of gave up about halfway through season 3. Season 1 was good, season 2 was very hit and miss but from what I watched of season 3 it was awful.

Hmmm… Still works for me. I’ll try to find an alternate link, but here are the high points.

Several scenes of everyone being happy they are being rescued. Sun mentions being happy that her baby will be born in a hospital. Hurley says he is happy because when he gets back he will be free (and jumps into the ocean).

A helicopter arrives.

Desmond tells someone not to contact the boat; its people aren’t who they say they are.

Unknown person (to Jack): “Rescuing your people… I can’t really say it’s our primary objective.”

Ben: “Every living person on this island will be killed.”
Sawyer (taking a gun): “And I was hoping to get a good night’s sleep.”

Locke: “If you want to live, come with me.”

Text over shots of a flying helicopter: “Some will leave. Others will not.”

Hurley (at someone’s grave): “We made a mistake.”

Jack (scene from end of season 3): “We have to go back!”

There’s more. I’ll try to find another source. DarkUFO doesn’t have it and it doesn’t seem to be up on YouTube yet.

About the first half of season 3 was pretty bad but they redeemed themselves in a major way in the last half and the last half-dozen episodes or so were probably the best they have done. I am really looking forward to season 4 now.

Try this link. It’s working for me but I may have something cached that is letting me see it when no one else can.

Definitely not something you can just jump in to. However with it most likely being one of the only good shows with new material in January, I would recommend picking up the DVDs and catching up. And season 3 just came out so they are all available on Netflix or however you get your DVDs.

yea i totally agree. i’ve been watching it from the beginning, and i can see how some people may have been turned off by parts if last season. but i think that it is now kinda in the same territory as BSG; by that i mean that the creators have a definite end point in sight and agreed upon with the network, so that they can really focus on quality storytelling.

btw, the new trailer is up on youtube now, among other sources. thanks for the summary anyway.

Here is a line to the new Lost Trailer #2.

I’m a hardcore Lost fan. Let me put it this way, I bought a Blu-Ray player just to play the Lost Season 3 in HD.

Its my favorite show…ever. Although BSG is right behind it.

I’m very very excited about the new season and this trailer had jump-started my theorizing again.

The end of season III is such a mindfrack that it may very well be worth your while to just start watching the DVDs now and not jump in. And, given the spotty quality of seasons II and III, count yourself luck that you can do it this way. But by the end of three, you’ll be glad you put in the effort.

Anyone who needs a quick catch-up or refresher… here’s everything you need to know about Lost in 8 minutes and 15 seconds. (No, really.)

Ditto.
Okay, minus the Blu-Ray thing…
It’s an amazing show.
It has depths never before seen on television because the overall plot/theme/character archs were laid out before anything was written.
You can see tidbits dropped throughout the show just coming into play now.
…and the latest trailer has renewed my excitement for it to season 1 levels.

but I will give credit where its due, some very good acting, and the last episode of season 3 was about as good of a setup for a cliff hanger as I’ve ever seen.

So I’ll be watching for a few episodes for sure. It occurred to me for the beginning of the the season they could be doing more future flashbacks (I hope that made sense) maybe with the season 4 finally them returning to island. its an interesting change for the show while keeping it in the same naritaive structure.
