Lost 4.13/4.14 There’s No Place Like Home Parts 2 and 3 (spoilers)

Interesting theory. Or becoming one with The Force?

I think Faraday et al have survived and will be on the island. The reason being, the island displaced a LOT of water that we could see filling in the cavity… it would be conceivable that some of the surrounding water went with the island…

I don’t buy it. It sure didn’t look like anything moved but the island. If anything, they might have been sucked into the void left behind by the island’s disappearance, which probably would have drowned and/or crushed them. OTOH, Faraday’s a smart guy; maybe he had a plan…

The machinery rocked my world.

They were calling it the Frozen Donkey Wheel, which shockingly was exactly what it turned out to be.

It was a popular theory that they were going to move the island to a frozen place, hence Ben’s coat… but I didn’t buy it for a number of reasons. 1) They shoot in Hawaii… kind of hard to make it winter all the time.

It is cheaper to shoot in Vancouver.

  1. Lots of extreme tech utilizes sub-zero temperatures.

Ooh, good point. I hadn’t thought of that.

  1. He had Hallowax’s coat… we saw Hallowax on the video where they teleported the rabbit.

“Is he talking about what I think he was talking about?”
“If you mean time-travelling bunnies, then yes.”

I did feel the “whoever moves the island can never return” bit to be contrived, but I’ll let it go for all of the awesome this show has generated.

Maybe the island doesn’t like to be moved?

Still processing what happened last night. At first glance I would have agreed with you, but I’ve been thinking about what she ACTUALLY said to him. She told him that others had gotten off the island. Now, if she wanted to get back at Jack, there are certainly better ways to go about it than that. I mean why screw Desmond?

I think she’s going after either Ben or Locke or both. At the end we find out from Jack that Locke had contacted the ones who were still speaking to him, I think it’s safe to assume he contacted Sun. This is probably what set her off.

I like frakkintalos’ theory that this year’s faction is the dead people. Maybe we’ll get to see a Danielle flashback after all.

Personally I’m hoping to see more of Ecko, I really liked him.

No way, that isn’t the last we saw of the raft OR Jin…definitely Michael. They deliberately did not show where Jin was when that explosion took place, we definitely know where Michael was. It was pretty crazy, Jin could have gotten off of that ship, perhaps even swimming to the raft, although probably injured.

A-FRAKIN-MEN!

Actually I did not. I was thinking “Finally a relationship I don’t want to gag over.”

I cheered and roared when Sayid flew out of the jungle and tackled Keamy! I’ve been waiting for weeks for someone to kill that creep. It was disappointing that the fight ended anticlimactically, though; I’d have been more satisfied if Sayid had finished him off instead of Ben, if only because it gets tiring when the bad guys keep coming back for one more scare (and sometimes the good guys, too, I guess). But it was great anyway to finally see one of the Losties, instead of standing around staring dramatically, just jump out and beat the craaaap out of one of their tormentors.

Yeah, that WAS a pretty cool fight scene between Sayid and Keamy. I was like “GO Sayid!!!”

And we got to see more of Sayid’s break-dancing moves.

When Keamy was shot in the back, I was screaming at the TV, “Shoot him in the head!” I guess that would’ve off’d the freighter too early, though.

When are they going to invent a box to plug into your tv so you can speak in real-time to the fictional characters on your screen?? I’m spending most episodes of 24 screaming advices to Jack Bauer (“Run! Run!!”, “Nooo Jack, he’s a mole!!”,“Now you have 5mn, go to the restroom!”) but he never listen to me.

Actually, and this is probably heresy, I never found the flash-forwards to be all that mind-blowing. Definitely a paradigm shift, yes, but not earth shaking. It set up circumstances where it wouldn’t be clear whether events were occurring in the future (present?) or the past or even both, but while it was an intriguing storytelling technique, it really didn’t impact the story itself. And Charlie’s death, while tragic (and IMO unnecessary), had been a certainty since the middle of the season, so it wasn’t really a shocker when it actually happened. An entire landmass disappearing in an instant, on the other hand, raises the stakes on the supernatural elements of the story. Vague visions and spooky happenings are one thing, but that…?

Also, how interesting it is that Charlotte Lewis has been to the island before and wanted to come back…

Yeah, pretty fascinating. Is she an Other? Dharma? Or some other “faction”?

I don’t doubt he’ll be back, and yet I’m convinced that the people in the raft died. Somehow, with this show, those two ideas don’t necessarily have to be mutually exclusive. At the very least, we lost some redshirts. Let’s have a moment of silence for passengers number 17, 32, and 89.

By the way, who didn’t go ‘Aaaaawwwww’ when Desmond and Penny finally found their missing constant?

That was a nice moment. The “missing constant” raises a interesting question though: has Penny been to island before? Obviously her father has. And she knew what to look for in order to find Desmond. So I think she knows a lot more than she’s letting on.

During Kate’s dream sequence, someone’s speaking backward on the phone (very Lynch-esque), when you play it forward:

Sounds like Christian Shephard. He sure does get around.

Anyone ever watch Oz? So weird to see him in this role after that series. Although there’s definitely some Adebisi in Eko’s darker moments…

I can’t imagine Jin being dead for real. I refuse to accept it.

Beheading is clearly not overkill with some of these guys.

Hi all
I have been a lurker here awhile, but I wanted to comment on last night’s finale:

  1. How totally awesome was Sayid’s fight with Keamy?
  2. I think that Faraday went into his own time shift when the island was “moved.” I think that would explain all the notes in his notebook about his Desmond as his constant, the Orchid, etc. We definitely haven’t seen the last of him. (but then again I guess we never do on Lost) The redshirts either moved with the island or are dead (i guess those options are obvious), I tend to think they are dead, and that Faraday only survived because of him moving in time.
  3. Hmmmm, Charlotte wants to know where she was born? THAT was one of the more intriguing bits.
  4. I am so a Skater now.
  5. I am not sure what to think about the Oceanic 6’s “need” to lie about what really happened. I am somewhat relieved that they didn’t sell out their friends or make a bargain with the devil in order to get off the island, but I can only explain their obvious unease and seeming survivor guilt with the lies, but the NEED to lie isn’t obvious to me. They want to protect their friends, um ok, the island MOVED, NO ONE knows how to get there. what purpose does it serve saying the others on Oceanic 815 all died, to protect them from Widmore, who had wanted to have them all killed, when its clear that widmore knows as much or more about our magical mystery island than anyone else. I just don’t get it, can anyone tell what I am missing because I am tired of thinking about it.
  6. Oh and the intricacies of who is friend and who is foe, who is working for good and who is not? I love it. Ben wants to kill Penny, Desmond won’t EVER let that happen, Ben and Desmond would seemed to be aligned against Widmore though, Ben is “working” with our favorite losties, Sun is making deals with Widmore. HMMMMMmmm it all seems to center around Ben…
  7. YEAH! for Penny and Desmond, totally satisfying to have my favorite castaway find some happiness.
  8. I wonder when Ben says that they ALL have to return to the island, does that mean Walt too? I would think so, if “Jeremy” was visiting with him
  9. Interesting theory my husband has, he thinks the island is alive and some type of alien being (which would be eeirly similar to Farpoint Station, also a magical mystery place that happened to be alive  )

Anyway, those are some intitial thoughts, if there aren’t intelligible, forgive me, I’ve had a bit of wine this evening

For reals! I want more of so many of the deceased Losties: Ecko, Charlie, Claire (who is so much less annoying now that she’s super-creepy ghost Claire). I am also REALLY hoping for Alpert’s back story next season.

I no longer entertain real theories for Lost. There are so many possibilities branching out from every thread we’ve been given that they could weave together into an infinite number of patters. The show refers a lot these days to issues of theoretical physics, so the range of possibilities right now reminds me of the infinity of possible universes that collapse into each other as the variety of options narrow as choices are made.

Jack Bauer does hear you. But His will be done. Trust in Jack. Your faith will be rewarded.

Hey spookyb18! Welcome to the forum.

I hadn’t thought of that. It makes so much sense. We’ll being seeing that next season.

What’s the legal blood alcohol limit for driving in Canada? Given the problems the cast have had in Hawaii that might be a more important consideration…

I did a junior year abroad there and the story is that Jeremy Bentham donated a sizable portion of his fortune to found University College. One of his stipulations was that he be allowed to attend all meetings of the college faculty. So now when the meet they just wheel the box into the room so he can continue to attend in perpetuity.

One other note. That isn’t actually his head in the picture but a wax replica. The head has been locked a way in a vault (and hasn’t held up all that well anyway) ever since the students from rival Kings College stole it as a prank. Those wacky Brits…

Edit: For those curious to see Bentham posed with his real head you can go here.

Canada might be a problem.

They may have to kill off the whole cast if they shot there.

I thought Sun approached Widmore first to kill him. When she clearly didn’t do that, I thought about the whole time travel thing and that she was looking for a way to get back to the island - back in time - so she can save Jin. Of course, we all know how well THAT works.

I really enjoyed watching the finale. When Christian told Michael that he could go, I knew he meant he could die. Finally. Michael gets his deathwish. Poor guy.

I also cursed the TV when Sawyer jumped. The errand that Kate ran earlier in the season that caused Jack to go all boozy must have been what he whispered to her. How sad - she probably assumes he’s dead. Hope to hell not.

Love the fact that Sawyer tried out a nickname or two on Frank before settling on - “Hey, Kenny Rogers”. Heh!

Freaked out now.

So disturbing. Maybe I’m just completely clueless about the preservation of the deceased (fairly safe bet), but couldn’t they just build the wax face mask onto his actual face? Keep his head where it belongs, while not making him look all “Tales from the Crypt”. Everybody’s happy!

Question- if Sun could use Widmore to get back to the island, then perhaps she could return to a time when he is still alive? John walks because on island time it is before his accident, so Sun could try and arrive before Jin’s death. Thoughts?

Um, yeah- I hereby vow that I will never again think I know what’s going on on LOST. From here on out, I’m simply along for the ride…

That’s just frakking creepy.
