Lose weight with Doctor Who (and without those Adipose aliens)

This is a bit of shameless self promotion, but this year I’d made resolutions to lose weight and watch every episode of Doctor Who. It occurred to me that with 750 episodes and counting I could probably lose the weight WHILE watching the show.

So I’ve decided to blog the journey. For every episode of Doctor who that I watch, i’ll be exercising the entire time. I’ll be reviewing every episode of the show starting with the original episodes of the William Hartnell years, and posting my weight loss progress as I go.

Cool! I decided to start exercising last fall and watching TV on the treadmill definitely helped. I watched The Wire and am currently working my way through Friday Night Lights. If I had the Who to watch along with you, I absolutely would. Way to go!

That’s very cool. I wish you luck!

This is a seriously cool idea. Good luck.

Shiny! To quote the Doctor’s daughter, I love the running. Or the brisk walking–that works, too. Good luck!

I take my iPod to the gym every weekday and watch shows during my cardio time. The best part of your plan: you won’t run out of material. I get in about 9 hrs a week viewing and have learned to pre-load to stack up the material. I blew through Big Bang Theory in a couple weeks.

great idea!

I found this site for watching dr who.

http://www.doctorwho-episodes.com/

as long as you stay in the main part of the page the site is OK. if you click on any of the stuff on the right…“pages” etc you get caught in a loop.

They have every season. very cool.

Thanks for that link. Awesome!

Thanks all. If you have friends who are interested in either of the two subjects, send em my way.

awesome. I’ll link people to that that want to follow along. right now i have every episode eating up 200 gigs worth of hard drive space

If you can’t watch but can listen, let me recommend the audios from Big Finish: www.bigfinish.com

(they also have the Stargate license)

How does that work? Do they add naration or something?

Yeah, I feel at the rate i’m going i’ll run out of episodes before the year is out. The radio plays and audio books will give me something to move on to, and give me more exercise options as well

Nope, original full-cast stories with the actors. Set between various “televised” adventures. Complete with fully-relized 8th Doctor “seasons.”
