Life on Mars (BBC)

I’m perfectly willing to give the US version a shot, mainly to see what Colm can bring to the Gene role but also because I love the premise. I know it’s never going to be the BBC series again but it might be good on it’s own merits.

Thanks for those trailers Leah!

You are quite welcome. I really was being a bad girl looking for the U.K. season 2. I did not have much luck but I did find the trailers. Bad Leah good results. :o

I willing to try it too. Hay if it is near as good as the first it will be great. Maybe they would go beyond the two seasons.

nods a lot My thoughts exactly! I figure it isn’t on Fox so it’s got a shot right?

I thought we were not suppose to curse (Fox)? :stuck_out_tongue:

Well it also may be a good crossover show. Those who do not like science fiction could like it for the cop theme. When police were less polite. When cops were cops. When the Miranda rights were new. You get the idea. It will be a bit tougher than a person looking into a microscope.

OK, so after watching BBC Life on Mars Season 1 as it aired in the US and missed season 2 and watching most of the US episodes, I finally watched the final episode of the BBC version’s season 2.

The DVR caught the first couple minutes of the BBC sequel Ashes to Ashes, which I’d read was pretty so-so, but after watching a little taste, I’ve decided to check it out.

If you missed the Saturday Ashes to Ashes episode 1, it repeats a couple times through the week. And it looks like subsequent weeks will feature two episodes: the previous week, followed by the new ep.

US version is good, but it’s a different kind of thing. If you haven’t heard, they cancelled it, but they’ll give it a final episode to wrap everything up.

How on earth have I missed this thread for so long?

I could write pages about this show. A good friend mailed me a copy and instructed me to, “Just watch this.” I was pretty much hooked in the first twenty minutes and then devoured both seasons in like a week. This is one of those shows that stays with you for a long time.

Interestingly I couldn’t bring myself to watch the U.S. version. That is to say, I half-heartedly tried to record it 8 days before the premier and my DVR only allows you to record 7 days in advance. Then a few months later I went online to watch the pilot and ABC had removed it (and only the pilot). I have heard good things about it, especially when it started finding its own path.

The BBC version is one that is an instant classic. I recommend it to everyone.

No, it was on ABC. Just announced that it won’t be renewed.
