Life is teh suck today because (a.ka. the official B_tch & Moan thread)

Gotta admit I felt a little self-centered writing that post, but hearing from all you guys has indeed made me feel better. Thanks Glim, and thanks everyone. Once again the GWC forum proves to be an amazing place full of supremely nice people with huge hearts proportionate to their big brains. You guys rock.

Dude, don’t feel self-centered. That’s what this thread is for. I’d tell you to hang in there, but I myself am sick of hearing that phrase. So, instead, just remember some words of wisdom from one William Adama: sometimes you’ve got to roll a hard six.

And remember, every trial comes to an end and we will each come through it stronger.

My pleasure, LT. I’ve been laid-off twice in my life, both times during recessionary driven cut backs. And it’s not fun.
Would I have to share the cupcakes with my XO and kids?

Sorry to hear your news, LT. My thots are with you and yours, and I wish you the best of luck in finding the XO a new employer.

On an unrelated note, I don’t understand why some people can call out from work once a week for no apparent reason, but when I ask to leave a couple hours early because my throat is swollen like a grapefruit, it’s like negotiating a hostage release.

[sips hot tea]

In the words of the great Homer Simpson:
“In America, first you get the sugar, then you get the power, then you get the women.”

Depends on how badly you’re outnumbered (and how much you fear the XO’s wrath). You might have the upper hand if you take a Popeye-esque bite of a cupcake first, but if the kids get to them first, you’re done for.

My mother got hospitalized on Sunday. She had been vomiting for three days and was worried about getting dehydrated. Since, she has been stablized and is resting.

This morning I found out that she suffered cardiac arrest during the ordeal so they are continuing to monitor her a little longer.

My step-dad called and told me that we need to alleviate her stress level which I kinda understood when he said it. My sister is going through a divorce and has been living with them for 18 months.

This afternoon I received a phone call from my sister. Tempers flared but I think things have settled down and been resolved.

I think we’re all upset and worried about my mom.

Eek. Here’s hoping your mother heads toward a speedy recovery.

Damn, FIT, so sorry to hear that.

Talos, very sorry to hear about your mom. I’m wishing her the very best and a quick recovery. And sending well wishes to your sister, and you, too.

Talos. My thot go out to you and i hope for your mothers speedy recovery and that things will work out with your sis.

talos, I’m so sorry! I’ll keep you & mom in my thots

I’m so sorry to hear this, Talos. My thoughts are with you.

That’s just awful about your mom, Talos.
Maybe it was actually a good thing that she had to go to the hospital though. At least there they could notice the cardiac arrest and be able to take action. Anyway, here’s to a peaceful and speedy recovery.

Oh wow, that sounds like a nice little crises. I hope your mom recovers and your sister’s divorce works out with a minimum of additional stress.

Thank you everyone. I visited my mother tonight and she’s feeling better. Hopefully she’ll be heading home soon. I’ll let her know you all send your best wishes.

TLT, that’s what my wife said regarding it being a good thing since she did experience cardiac arrest. Better to have that happen while going to or being at the hospital than being home or elsewhere.

First of all, Frakkin Talos and Lonely Toaster, I am sorry to hear of your troubles. I hope things get better for you both. FT, I am glad your momma is feeling better. LT, thank goodness that at least one of you has a job to count on so you can feed your little one. I hope you don’t have to move!

I’m going to share a secret. So far as I am aware, one of the best ways for an average dude to impress a girl in such a way as that she might wind up harboring impure thoughts about you is to be a cute dad. When I see men doing good dad things with their little ones, it gives me the same kind of chemical rush as I get when I see little babies. Something in my goes “Aaaaawwwww” and I get a little kick in the gut that says “wantwantwant.” Since it’s me we’re talking about, it gets translated into fantasies of spoon-feeding ice cream to my pretty pregnant wife and picking out teeny adorable onesies with non-gender-specific images. But most women get the awww and the kick and fantasize about having a man like that to be their babies’ cute dad.

That’s what the Mrs. tells me. I mean, about the man part, not fantasizing about her pregnant wife and non-gender specific onesies (though I recommend the “Cuter than the Baby Jesus” tee shirt from T-shirt hell. Wish we’d gotten one of those for Elena. Maybe this Christmas…). Although that is totally cute too, having met you and your S.O.

Talos, I’m so glad your mom is feeling better. Here’s to a speedy recovery for her and a return to normalcy for your sister ASAP.

I hope MamaTalos recovers quickly

And just good economic vibes out there for everyone. Because goodness knows we need them…

Talos – I will be thinking of you and your mom. I am hoping she makes a full recovery soon.
