there’s no hate here in GWC whatever our politcal disagreements. : )
and we do completely and utterly disagree here. I see your argument and i understand that this process is within the law. but without a doubt in my mind i feel this is the NDP/Liberal/Bloc subverting our election for there personal gain and has nothing to do with anything other than a power grab. and I say this as a man who voted for the NDP so i’m not partial towards another conservative term. If there is no confidence in the current sitting government fine call an election and lets try again…
sigh… trying to not get ridiculously upset again about this. but there’s no hate or anger towards you, just because you see it differently.
Woke up at 6:00…after 2.5 hours of sleep thanks to uncontrollable hacking.
Reluctantly drove up to Baltimore to teach. Taught. Whoop-de-doo!
Grabbed lunch in the car (again) so I could make a 3:15 doctor’s appointment.
Hit standstill traffic thanks to an accident at 2:15. Thankfully, this doesn’t take nearly as long as I think it will.
Make it to the doctor’s office with time to spare (2:50 for a 3:15 appointment). Proceed to wait an hour.
I’m finally allowed into the office at 3:50. Find out I’ve gained yet more weight (ugh! Thanks, long commute and bad diet. I used to be so good). Proceed to wait another 45 minutes before the doctor comes by.
Doctor is finally able to see me at 4:30. Turns out the cold I had last week has turned into bronchitis (my germs were created by man. They rebelled. There are many copies…). I’m given an inhaler and three prescriptions which I drop off at home for the wife to drop off at the pharmacy on my way to rehearsal.
Get stuck on I-395 because it’s rush hour in Washington, which now has worse traffic than L.A. God bless 'merica!
Traffic clears up enough that I’m able to make it to the rehearsal location in enough time to grab a salad (see above note on weight gain) for dinner. It tasted glorious. I didn’t realize I missed vegetables.
Make it through rehearsal without hacking a lung but have to get a bit snappy at a couple of people, something I don’t like to do. Par for the course.
Make it home at 10:00.
Sit down to watch last week’s Pushing Daisies on DVR with the mrs. Promptly have coughing fit and pass out. I only realize what’s happened when, out of the back of my consciousness, I hear my wife asking, “are you okay? Can you breathe?” She said I’d turned purple but that as soon as she lifted my head back upright I was okay. I get flashbacks to Elena’s apnea episodes at the hospital last year and suddenly realize what it must have been like from HER perspective.
I take my meds, one of which has codeine. Life is good. Bedtime.
Get kicked out of bed at 2:00 for coughing too much. Go upstairs. Wake up at 8:45. Go back to bed for another 45 minutes. (Thank the gods for no classes on Thursdays, though I am skipping a staff meeting. Screw that. I’m sick.)
Now I’m here. Bitching and whining about it. At least I have a few hours till I have to be at rehearsal tonight. Then do it all over again tomorrow. Our dress rehearsal for Saturday was bumped, so we won’t get a chance to try out our program in the hall until the night of the performance on Sunday. On Monday we have to do a reading/recording session for all of these student pieces. Fine. Part of the job. But I wish we didn’t have to do it. I’m tired.
I’ll be glad when that’s over, because next week is all review for finals. And, since I don’t believe in exams, I’m only giving one in a single class. Which means my other classes are done next week. So after the 15th, it’s all over but the grading. But then I have to fly out to Indiana on the 18th for a three day recording session. Which is cool because this will result in my first piece available on a REAL CD. But I’m just too tired to get excited about it right now.
Wow Armando, you’re waaaayy sicker than I was. I didn’t really have much coughing, just a really high fever that I pretty much slept through. Hope the drugs kick in and make you start feeling better!
To ARMANDO: Breath in, breath out, breath in, breath out. Close your eyes. Say “Ahhhhhhhhhh. This too shall pass.” Wishing you a good day from the North!
TO N.B. Actually we probability agree more than you might think. There is a lot of political gamesmanship in the last few days that has risked the stability of the country at a time of world wide economic stress. Given that, what the opposition is doing is constitutionally fine and does not derogate our right to vote and in some circumstances a coalition government is preferable to an election. We are not used to minority governments or coalition governments, but they occur with regular frequency in other parliamentary countries.
I am disappointed with ALL of the parties, frankly. If this was an argument on principled grounds, I would have no difficulty at all. We cannot expect the opposition to hold their noses and vote for something that they truly feel would harm the country. In that circumstances a coalition government would be preferable. However, in this case the entire parliament seems incapable of looking beyond the petty political battle lines. The Conservatives started the ball rolling, but all the parties are keeping it up. I have to admit that I am more disappointed in Harper since he could have had fairly smooth sailing if he had taken the high road.
Perhaps the best result would be for the GG to end the session. I doubt the Coalition will last to next year and hopefully Harper will have had a big enough kick in the butt to smarten up. Most Canadians just want the government to get on with the job of governing. It’s time for the politicians to stop stirring their little pots.
My point was, as a long ago poli sci major, that the Opposition was completely within their rights to do what they were doing. Whether they SHOULD be making this move… well, that’s a matter of opinion.
We should know the results in a few hours. Interesting times, you must admit!
Tied to a wheel fingers got to feel
Bleeding through a tourniquet smile
I spin on a whim slide to the right
I felt you like electric light
For our love
For our fear
For our rise against the years and years and years
Got a machinehead better than the rest
Green to red machinehead
I walk from my machine
I walk from my machine
Deaf dumb and thirty
Starting to deserve this
Leaning on my conscience wall
Blood is like wine
Unconscious all the time
If I had it all again
I’d change it all
Got a machinehead better than the rest
Green to red machinehead
I walk from my machine
I walk from my machine
Do you ever wonder what skin-job cylons do when they’re seriously sick like that? I wonder if they just kill themselves and resurrect. Probably not much of need for pharmacutical or medical industry. Too bad for Simon.
So i had to chase and deceive my cats today so i could take them to the vet. I was able to fool one of them by tapping a plate with a spoon making him think he was going to get yummy can food. right up to the point i scooped him up and carried him to the car. The other i had to chase for 10 minutes before i corned him on top of the fridge and was able to catch him just as he was about to jump over me. Not a serious complaint but i figured it might give someone a lil chuckle. Oh and i know that when i go pick them up the Vet will tell me one of my cats is too fat. He’s 18 lbs but i think most of that is muscle. He only gets diet food and he runs all the time.
Ain’t nothing wrong with turning 30 guy. I did it a couple months ago. Just remember 30 is the new 20. So all your friends in their late 20’s will suddenly be older than you.
