Life is the suck… had to get a chicken pox vaccine. Side Effects… Chicken Pox!!! Soooo Itchy!
Oui! Had that in the second grade - back before the vaccine. Calamine lotion. Lots of calamine lotion. You look like a pink, flaky skinned alien but at least you don’t itch!
Frakkin’ pinko commie Cylons!
Seriously, though, that sounds both amazing and frightening. As a freelance musician, if I had the government do my taxes there’d be so much they’d miss! (Or, alternatively, catch…)
(And dear IRS agent who monitors my online activities: please note the above was a joke. I am really honest when I do my taxes. Seriously. Cross my heard and hope to die…)
I dunno: post-pubescent chicken pox is SERIOUS stuff. Especially when you get them in the naughty bits. No amount of calamine lotion can help that.
Hang in there, Clawrift. Be strong!
Thanks guys. I’m hanging in there.
Last week my dog ate drain cleaner and had to be rushed to the vet, and then two days later I got food poisoning. It was awful. ;-;
This morning at about 5 am, Mr. Whendi screamed my name. I jumped out of bed and there was smoke everywhere. I had been cleaning yesterday and had pushed the ottoman up against the furnace. I didn’t even consider that the furnace would click on again. The pleather, the foam, and the acrylic blanket were emitting gobs of toxic fumes.
Thank cod Mr. Whendi was awake playing Eve, or we could have been goners. I can now attribute two of the best things that ever happened to me to computer gaming - meeting my husband and my hero
husband saving our lives.
Most importantly, did he get ganked while he was afk?
Glad you escaped without injury, you didn’t want that ottoman anyway.
Holy craaap SW, that was close indeed! I’m glad you came out of it with nothing more than some furniture to toss out!! Wow, scary stuff.
I’ve seen a few basement fires and several were caused by stuff crowding the furnace, or an electric baseboard heater in a finished room downstairs. So keep your eyes open for stuff like that, GWC! And it’s a great idea to have a small fire extinguisher on every floor of your house, or at least someplace handy. A $20 extinguisher can save your entire apt, house, or life someday.
Since you’re all okay, I hope you won’t mind me saying I’m glad you’re still Shi Whendi, and not Fried Whendi!!
Just got a call from home. Grandma isn’t doing well and the doctor has prescribed pain meds so she’s comfortable. I don’t know if I can handle this right now. I’m supposed to be celebrating my nephew’s 6th birthday on Saturday. And even though we’ve been expecting this for a while, it still sucks.
LOL I’ll have to ask him. At least you didn’t ask if you could have my loot, of which we have atomic shit tons (c.f. George Carlin).
Holy crap! I’m glad you guys are okay.
Sending good thoughts your way, Shelly. Hugs.
Thanks Armando! No news is good news, right?

And now news - Grandma passed away last night/this morning. We aren’t telling the kids until after all the birthday party goodness. I’ll be pretty much offline for the next few days. Everyone take care and have a happy Easter!
