Law and Order:Special Victims Unit

Hey guys, given the recent float of discussion about your own personal geekdom. Mine of late has been Law and Order:Svu.

I picked up season one on a whim when i had some spare cash although with saving Grace and The Closer. All S1’s actully. And while Saving Grace is interesting and certainly provides lots of both religious and moral questions. And helped me regain sone faith. It’s Svu that’s sucked me in and drawn me into it’s world.

While the show is not minor friendly, really no cop show is. (LoM anyone? :stuck_out_tongue: ) it’s about a group of dectives that work with cases involving sexual matters, children or elderly. This can lead to some disturbing content. Some of the child abuse episodes are hard to watch. As us an episode in season nine, where Det. Olivia Benson(female lead and resident basses chick) goes undercover in a womens prison.

What makes SVU stand out for me is simply the characters. Det. Elliot Stabler, Olivia Benson, Fin Tutola and John Munch( some of you may know him from other shows he’s been in several. John Munch that is as well as his actor Richard Belzer) all grow and age as people. Elliot’s kids grow up. People struggle with relationships the job and their own demons. Personally I love the issues raised in the show and the way our four main players plus thief immensely fantasic supporting cast deal with each case.

Yes results aren’t always clean. Nor is every badguy caught in the proper way or convicted. Sometimes there really isn’t even a badguy that’s obvious.

Anyways just though id post up my latest geekout inspiring show. Thanks for reading

I’m a big fan of Law & Order:Sexy Victims Unit too. Like you said, not all of the stories are resolved clean, but that strikes me as one of the most realistic approaches to cop drama on TV.
