last supper pic

hi folks finally feeling like posting after living with the finale for a week…mixed feelings but like how it ended and the ideas behind it…SO looking again at the photo from scifi oh syfy does anyone think it had meanings about the show or the end? or was it a mind frak? what ya’ll think?

judging by the creative process revealed by RDM, it is most likely a mind frak.

It may be part of both… it’s clearly a marketing tool, but there are elements that work… I think you could have predicted who the FC was (although I didn’t) if you examined it closely enough – Tigh’s looking right at her, and the chalice in front of her could represent the cup of poison. I’m sure there are other symbolic elements at work, but I haven’t thought that much about it… I’d be interested in hearing other interpretations.

Well, let’s take a lok at it! I will post my thoughts in another post after this one.

From the left.

Roslin is burning something. Obviously a reference to her burning the book of Pythia.

Natalie: pointing at Athena perhaps accusing, since Athena killed her.

Tigh: We see him looking at the space of the missing fifth. They also have him purposely with his missing eye facing us. I’m thinking that is supposed to indicate him turning a blind eye to his cylonity. He also has his back to Natalie, possibly indicating his ultimate decision regarind the S7.

Empty space with Chalice: An obvious symbolic gesture to Ellen’s death.

Lee: I dunno, he’s looking pretty presidential in that pose. shrug

Gaius: Looks both worshipfully & a little intimidated by the 6. This could be an indication of his following the path laid out for him by Head 6 as well as admitting to himself tht he is in love with Caprica 6. (I’m reaching on that one)

The 6: The red dress clearly makes her the Head 6, she is in the Jesus role of the pic. SHe is the savior of humanity, by leading Gaius so forcefully? I dunno.

Kara & Sam: Their pose tells me 2 things, first Karahas her eyes closed & looks relaxed, she looks like she’s accepted how things are. Sam kissing Kara like that tells me that he’s in love with her, no matter what happens.

Chief: He is sitting there with that knife, ther’es obviously a symbolism to that, hell if I know what it is. I do think it’s signifcant that he essentially alone.

Athena & Helo: Athena is cringing from Natalie. This is probably a reference to Athena thinking Natalie is trying to take Hera. Helo is holding Athena being her support through everything.

Adama: looking pensive & withdrawn. I think this is symbolic of him withdrawing like he did.

I think the other thing to note is that Athena is pointing at Adama, as Natalie points at her. Is Athena placing blame on Adama? Kind of a shit thing to do, but at the end of the series, that WAS kind of the mood of the crew. Many did place blame on him for their dire circumstances. So perhaps that is the case. I find it interesting that she is pointing at Adama, though, when he has saved her ass and given her chance after chance, even after the incident when she killed Natalie. sigh. Those eights are seriously flawed. Good thing Athena has Helo to make up for her flaws.

mmmmm, Helo…

I didn’t think about that originally but it could make sense. Ellen was always the last person I thought would be the Fifth so I wasn’t thinking of her when looking at the picture. I thought the chalice was just an allusion to the Holy Grail and finding the Fifth…I didn’t think about Ellen getting poisoned from a cup.
I think you’re probably right about the symbolism now.

thanks guys…the other props on the table are hard to see but im sure there’s hints as well…looks like the painting kara drew…

I had read the theory & thought about it briefly, but in the end discarded it. I didn’t think they’d bring a dead character back. SIlly me! In the end it’s a case, once again of hindsight being 20/20. It’s easy to see it once you know the answer.

the only way to watch this pic with the Da vinci version is to flip it horizontally.

I’m thinking it was just a mind frak, but after months of not knowing who the final Cylon was who could blame us for trying to extract any clues we could from it?
