Last 3 episodes of the Doctor

According to BBC America, “Waters of Mars” will be on December 19, then on December 26 the first part of “The End of Time”. Then hopefully the link is correct, that the second part of “the End of Time” will be on January 2nd.

It really is bitter sweet to see the end of Tennat as the Doctor, but i’m looking forward to see the new Docotr as well.

Oh gosh. I’m excited and sad at the same time. I am eager for more Who but I don’t know that I will deal well without David Tenant. :frowning:

Ill be glad for some change to be honest. Tenant is/was great but Eccleston will always be my fave since he was my first introduction to Dr. Who. Im so excited for more Who, its been so frakkin long since Ive had any.

Eccleston was my first Doctor as well - but I just love DT. He is my favorite and I will be very sad to see him go. Also I’m not too sure that Matt Smith is going to be any good…we’ll see though.

I’m excited for End of Time- I made the mistake of watching the trailers and now I’m uber psyched. Here’s hoping it lives up to the hype. DT has been great, but either his performance or the writers scripting for him was getting a bit predictable- scenes with indignant outrage started to blend together for me into generic “The Doctor is angry/upset” scenes regardless of scenario or cause. That being said, he’s been a blast and I kind of feel bad for Matt Smith, having to follow him up. (Then again, that’s what I said about Tennant after Eccleston, so…) I’ll be at home for Christmas and New Years, which makes me a happy Katebo because, unlike poor grad student me, my parents get BBC America!

I dont know anything about Mr. Smith. Why do you think he wont be any good?

Wow, y’all are making me feel old. For the record, Tom Baker was my first Doctor and as the ThinkGeek shirt says, “You never forget your first Doctor.” But Eccleston (who I wish had stuck around) and Tennant definitely revived the franchise and made it accessible to a whole new generation.

So yeah, it’s bittersweet but Tennant made the most of his tenure and Donna was one of my favorite companions ever. I’ll give Matt Smith the benefit of the doubt, since I’ve only seen him in a few TV shows (ironically opposite Billie Piper in The Ruby in the Smoke and Secret Diary of a Call Girl) but it still weirds me out to be older than the actor playing the Doctor, last of the Timelords. Which I’m hoping isn’t true because I really want the Master and the Rani to be out there causing trouble.

Mostly it’s because he’s not David Tennant. I know that’s a terrible reason. But there it is. He might do a perfectly passible job - but the fact is that The Doctor will be a different person - in the same way that DT’s Doctor was a different person than Eccleston’s. There is no way of knowing what type of man he’ll be and there is a chance I won’t like him. It makes me nervous.

Don’t worry, NCTibby- Tom Baker was my first Doctor too. First one I ever saw was “Pirate Planet”. Granted, that was a mere 6 years ago, but still. Also, I need that shirt.

I have to agree with you here NC, Tom Baker was my first doctor and I’m feeling the age as well.

As much as i think Tennant was great, I wish that Eccleston had a longer run.
It would have been interesting to see him in a second season.

And as for the Matt Smith, the fact that Steve Moffet is in charge now and also writting, is a big plus for him.

Like most of you, I’m nervous for the new Doctor. But I too adored Eccleston and feard the change to David Tennant. Now I adore David Tennant. I think it will be an adjustment, but I have high hopes for Matt Smith. (I enjoyed him in Ruby in the Smoke and Secret Diary. He’s adorable and quirky.) And since Stephen Mofatt is my favorite Who writer, the fact that he loved Matt as the Doctor goes a long way toward assuaging my fears. Plus, in a recent interview, David Tennant said he hasn’t seen Matt playing the Doctor himself, but the friends he still has on set say he’s wonderful. And I guess I’m pretty excited to see David in new things too. (Like the pilot he’s about to film for NBC! squee)

I can’t wait for his Hamlet to air. It’s gonna be so good!

^ Oh, I know. Picard and the Doctor sharing the stage? Brilliant!

Yeah, I wonder how much or even if the tone of the show will change with Moffat taking over as showrunner. I pretty much thought of him as a comedy writer (due to Coupling) until he scared the bejesus out of me with “The Doctor Dances” and “Blink.” So I totally trust him to respect the continuity and walk that fine line between horror and humor. I mean, this is the same show that had kids hiding behind the sofa because of Daleks and Cybermen.

BTW, here’s a link to the ThinkGeek DW shirt. Beware, there’s lot of cool stuff in their catalog so you might be browsing for a while…
