How well does skype work on laptops? I am getting a dell and I want to use Skype on it.
No idea about windows but I run Skype on macbook and it works just fine. Although I would suggest getting an actual mic, the ones that come built in to laptops are generally terrible.
Skype runs fine on laptops, assuming they meet the software’s minimum requirements (which are quite low). Should work fine on most modern laptops. For example, I used Skype a Dell Vostro 1400 (about $650 a year and a half ago) to call TalkShoe for the live cast from the meetup earlier this year.

I have skype, but rarely use it.
Checking in with a “works fine on my Macbook Pro” and thank goodness for that. iChat has proven to be quite unreliable for my video chats as compared to Skype.
Yeah, even an older (first iteration) MBP works fine with it. I just have had seperate issues.
raises hand I have skype, but I’m generally on it by appointment. I IM before I e-mail, e-mail before I call, and call before I skype. But if people want to chat it up on the computer without knowing a phone number, I’m cool with it.
It works on this macbook. It doesn’t work well on a 2005 Averatec with external camera. Freezes up after 45 sec, but I doubt your in the marked for one of those…
