LA Times on Battlestar Galactica

The Los Angeles Times has been running a different story each day this week on Battlestar Galactica. Today’s included an interesting new Galactica drinking game (http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/virtual/showtracker/la-et-battlestar-galactica-drinking-game-pg,0,5314826.photogallery). Yesterday’s LA Times story revealed Kate Vernon is known as OctoCylon to her friends.

Just an FYI if you’re interested.

pretty good read,thanks

Chug-a-lug…
Every time Admiral Adama cries.

Chug twice if he drools while doing it.

Aw, now that’s mean. Funny. But mean.

And in this article–http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracker/2009/03/battlestar-ga-3.html--Kate Vernon says:

When the actress learned Sci Fi Channel would be changing its name to SyFy in hopes of appealing to a less geeky demographic, she scoffed. “It never even occurred to me that we were shooting a science-fiction show,” she said. “Never. It’s always been just good drama.”

Thanks for the link, PlanB.

It’s better than the “story” the Washington Post ran on BSG at the U.N. today. (Here’s the link, in case they let you see it without a password: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/03/18/AR2009031804111.html?sub=AR)

I was a little annoyed at the sub-surface condescension and the many mentions of how “little watched” the show is (1.3 million viewers for the first part of the finale last week, even though most of the viewership for this show is on DVR, online and on DVD). I bet they don’t even do a blurb on it on the TV schedule tomorrow!

Well, if the rest of the article had been like the last paragraph, it might have been more palatable:

For the cast, creators and producers, it was a chance to show that this show could reach beyond its niche market of sci-fi buffs and geeks, to impart its themes of reconciliation and justice to the entire planet – something not even Seinfeld or Tony Soprano aspired to.

As much as I love the show and think it’s smart and relevant to today’s society and issues, I do think it’s a little weird that it ended up being discussed at the UN.

Do they have a plan? The LA times?

drinking game!!!
