Plus, he is a hobby archaeologist.
So you’re a Kirk man, then.
I’d have to go with Sisko:
-
While the other captains would zip around to galaxy putting out small fires, Sisko never had the luxury of warping away. He had to deal with the big problems of Bajor and the Cardassians for the long haul showing he was all the diplomat that Picard was.
-
Sisko was a good spouse and father compared to the others. I guess we did see Kirk act the part of a father for oh… about five minutes for one (of his many?) bastard children, but Ben wins hands down.
-
Picard certainly put Q in his place many times, but Sisko was the only one to give him the punch in the mouth he deserved.
-
Sisko commanded Defiant, the baddest little ship in fleet.
-
Kirk’s concept of gourmet cooking was an omelet. Sisko was a creole chef.
-
Kirk might have defeated a god once, but Sisko became a god.
WARNING: immature and irreverent statement to follow.
Upon positing this query to random strangers on the street, the most absurd answer I received just may hold a hint of truth (and I paraphrase):
Q: Who’s better, Kirk or Picard?
A: The one with the biggest boobies.
…so, Kirk it is then.
Let me just apologize to my family, forum mates, and country now.
And I guess the result would be the same if Janeway were included too…
wow, if there was irony in there, it was totally lost on me.
Picard tops the list for me. His number one priority is the ship and crew.
Picard is on the bridge pointing for Wesley so the ship stays on course (engage), while
Kirk is off talking to the ladies:cool:
Sisko is off playing baseball,
Janeway is trapped in a romance holonovel:p and
Archer is feeding the dog.:o
Sometimes I think he also took shore leave to travel through time to help people with Bro. Cavil…frak, wrong show.
The list of reasons that Kirk is better just reminded me of the Chuck Norris facts site, I mean just imagine this:
When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for Chuck Norris.
replaced with this:
When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for James Kirk.
Even tho I am a Picard fan, this made me laugh out loud several times. My favorite is:
- If Kirk finds a strange spinning probe, he blows it up.
Of course, without reading the prior 50 it loses a little context…but funny nonetheless.
A red shirt’s perspective under Kirk. it’s a parody.
This video is actually funny because in the military I actually knew an Averson who was a hardcore star trek fan.
Very entertaining.
Tough call. It was either Sisko or Archer, and I went with Sisko.
Sisko, like the later seasons of DS9 were all about human nature and the darker side of a supposed Utopia. He’s a captain for the realist, not the idealist. Because of that, Sisko will always be more realistic and, in my opinion, more likable than the other captains.
Who the hell voted for Janeway? I’m assuming those are jokes…
I’m rewatching it on TiVo right now and she is unwatchable.
I just rewatched the ST Voyager ep “The Year of Hell” (a two parter) and it’s pretty good --one of my favorites. But not because of Janeway, it’s the vilan, the Commander of the “Weapon Ship” that makes it for me—that and the cool premise of the episode(s).
Actually, I think I like that one because of Janeway. Doesn’t she die?
And the command of the Weapon Ship, that’s Red Foreman from That 70s Show. Heh. I kept waiting for him to threaten to kick someone’s butt.
Year of Hell is what Voyager should have been all along. That show could have thrived on the premise of “no reset button” - alas, it was not meant to be.
Thank you!! I was racking my brain trying to remember where I remembered him from.
Gotta go with Picard - Kirk is annoying. SNG was the first Star Trek I ever watched and none of them after have really gotten me interested.
I agree, the whole series should have had the Voyager falling apart, maybe patched together hear and there and getting into a really desperate state. They had it pretty good for most of the voyage I’d say.
yes, it’s a bit easy if you can replicate whole shuttles.
