? Why would you assume that, they specifically said they weren’t copies of existing humans
ok—jusr saw it…wow!!! Just some good stuff right there
I guess I always thought there would still need to be some sort of human imprint to begin with. Just like Zoe used all her medical records, school files, et al to create her avatar in the virtual world, the 8 cylon models would need something similar as a starting point. Although I do agree with others who have posted the idea that human Zoe did something else to her Avatar beyond a google search and simple download. Is that where the “One true God” comes into the picture? I don’t know.
If I understand correctly, the final 5 took the Centurians away at the end of the Cylon war, and they created the 8 humanoid models. I think what I am having a hard time grasping is what was the template for each personality? It has to be based on a human from somewhere. Machines don’t have personalities, or feelings or even souls.
Also confusing to me was how could Starbuck have memories of going through training with Sharon if she was not a real person at some point? Same with Saul Tigh and Adama. How could they go through their military careers together all those years, if Saul was never a real person?
These are questions I suppose I always had after watching BSG. :o Watching Caprica now is reminding me of them all over again!
I have assumed the starting point involved the people on which the Larrys experimented, found by Adama in his “Husker” days.
Memory issues I ascribe to God. It is convenient and part of the plot that It-which-does-like-to-be-called-God messes with people.
Ok a couple of things to clear up. Saul and Sharon were both in the military period. Saul was younger and placed in the military decades ago. Sharon on the other hand was put in relatively recently at the same time Starbuck was in training. It had been shown in BSG how Saul And Bill met. Saul had Darker hair at the time. Also they all have been on galactica for a number of years.
Now on to Caprica. I think in the not to distant time the person that was kind to Zoe will become the next Cy. (Industrial Adam and Eve if you like). What i’m finally getting is not so much how this started as to who started it. What I mean is the Head characters are agent of the one true god. Even though it hasn’t been stated as absolute fact we can probably guess that Head Caprica and Head Gaius were the instigators and saviors of the First Cylon Earth. Now On Caprica we have Zoe who got a greater blessing in creating the Zoe Avatar. They set this whole thing in motion. The Head Characters already know that the Final five are just a few years from reaching the colonies. So what do they do they force things into motion to get them to create the cylons. It wasn’t going to happen by itself. As it was the colonies were for the most part peaceful. Do you think Zoe’s Boyfriend thought all by himself to go kill himself and so many people. Heck no. In VR he more then likely got encouragement from the head characters. Now granted we are not going to see them anytime soon. That’s a ratings surprise coming in a few months i bet.
This may be all bunk but would be hoot if this is all explained later.
The whens and wheres get me confused.
I also think the Head Characters would be fun to see. The show seems made for them.
They’ve tried to copy Zoe and she won’t copy so the Adam and Eve thing could be useful to get around that. They could just “swap a little code” because they love each other–Cylons need that to procreate, it seems. Perhaps you’ve hit on where it comes from.
Agreed - Saul has been in the military for at least as long as Cylon original war (40 years plus timeline of the BSG series) plus time to get to know Bill beforehand. As we have Bill’s recollections of him during that time. Or at least they have shared memory of the first war, even if they weren’t stationed together at that point.
Boomer 8 was implanted into the fleet at the same time as the others of the significant seven about 2 years before the Miniseries started. The impression we’ve been given is that all of the major players of the series had all become stationed on the Galactica at this point.
heheh…check out Tricia walking by behind one of the cast…

I love the colour scheme… what a relief from all the dark and gloominess inside the old Bucket…
I didnt like it when I first saw it on DVD. I think it was because BSG was still fresh in my mind and I couldnt help to compare. Which I think clouded my judgement. With enough time passing from the end of Galactica to now, I think that I can see it with fresh eyes and make new judgements and I actually liked it and am looking forward to see where they take this.
