If the Galactica and the gang could defeat Cavil with the help of their half of the cylons… why not just go back and settle Kobol or New Caprica. Or hell… Old Caprica ( didn’t look like it was too dangerous).
Now it seems that the Cylons might be beaten enough for the fleet to turn and fight… and maybe win!!!

boy wouldn’t settling on kobol bring the story full circle. i dont think people would go back to new caprica, too many bad memories, and old caprica is a nuclear wasteland… you’d need to much anti-radiation medication. but kobol. yea. it would be neat. my personal opinion is that this is not where the show is going, but its a great idea.
But you realize they’ve only got one ship of rebel Cylons with them right? We don’t know if more rebels are out there, for all we know the Cavils, Dorals and Simons are still out there numbering in the thousands.
And, as noted in some other threads, the road back would cover the same space that it took to get to the algae planet. To much risk - all the ground covered before the Ionian Nebula is gone to them - they have passed the point of no return.
That seems to be the sticky wicket no matter where they settle. Even if Erf had been the paradise it was supposed to have been, they’d still have to deal with the threat of Cavil and Co. Hopefully, the rest of the rebel 2s, 6s, and 8s are out there to help even the odds–unless it was supposed to be implied that they were all destroyed back in Cavil’s surprise attack at the beginning of Season 4, leaving only the one Rebel Baseship to escape.
Gee, Cavil has kind of a history of letting a few key survivors go, doesn’t he? Could that, perhaps, be part of…(dun-dun-DUNNNNN!)…The Plan?
