Jumper

Here is a sci-fi novel making the transition to the big screen next month:

“Deciding he’s finally had enough abuse from his drunken father and determined to get away-any way he can-Davy discovers he has the ability to teleport anywhere he wants. Fleeing to New York but desperately short of cash he “jumps” into a bank vault. While living the high life in the Big City on the stolen money and testing the limits of his power, Davey makes another startling discovery: the mother he thought had abandoned him. But a new tragedy and a pledge to avenge the loss will plunge Davy into a dangerous and mysterious world of terrorists and government espionage. This time there may be no safe place for the Jumper.”

Jumper, by Steven Gould. I haven’t read it, but would be open to doing so before seeing the movie. Anyone else cast a vote for this one?

I’m there. Never heard of the book, but the trailer really grabbed me (note to Hollywood: THAT’S how to do a trailer.)

Read the books, haven’t seen the movies. Heard they are crap, so I’m gonna catch it on hbo.

Books rocked, though.

I read the first book. Completely unlike anything I expected. I found it rather disturbing actually. The level of realism of the abuse was higher than I’m used to in sci fi.

had no idea these were books…intersting

only thing I liked about tehe movie honestly was Rachel Bilson…she’d make me jump IYKWIM

Yeah, I found it disturbing, too. But excellent character development. My heart was with him the whole way.
