Is the show really that dangerous?

I ask this because though BSG is my favorite show, I think it has a rather undeserved reputation of being willing to kill off major characters. In four seasons, the major characters they killed off were Billy, Ellen, Kat, Cally, Dualla, Gaeta, and Zarek. They killed Starbuck only to resurrect her three episodes later. Considering the nature of the show, and the HUGE number of close calls for the main cast, one would expect a higher rate of attrition.

I started veering away from this idea myself when Roslin’s cancer was cured- undoubtedly this was done so MAry McDonnell could stay in the series- RDM really likes his cast, and wants to keep them around. The main cast was largely safe- it was the recurring players who had to worry.

So I didn’t buy that Roslin died last week- the thought never crossed my mind until the podcast theorized this. The main cast is no longer safe, going into parts 1 and 2 of “Daybreak,” but this is the first time I’ve ever felt this way.

No one is safe, at this point. I think a few of our major characters will be gone by the finale. They still haven’t dealt with Tyrol, who pretty much committed treason. Much as I love Chief, there may be a reckoning for him.

Have to be some reckoning for Tory too Id assume, she committed Treason as well.

There’s another… and I expect Laura (obviously) and Bill both, with the whole “parents must die before the children can come into their own” bit.

i have to agree that our heroes always manage to make it through. just think bout all the characters that have been shot and lived.

You forgot Jaffee! He is tasked with bringing Admiral William Adama his coffee in the morning and presumably other meals (A Day in the Life).

AFter that Lee and Kara ‘I don’t care what you are’ scene in Islanded, i got the distinct impressions that Lee was going to die. I guess it is just that old trope of the person leaving or walking away symbolizing their death.

But i sure hope we get to see Lee and Kara flying wings together, they make an awesome fighter team.

no physical repercussions? Athena did die, you know. sure she resurrected right away, but there was some lifeless Athena-meat on Galactica, and Helo wasn’t exactly what you’d call “not freaked out.”

but really i just like to hear myself talk. or whatever the internet equivalent of that is.
