IS BBCs "outcasts" the UK answer to BSG (2003)

I have been watching the new BBC HD science fiction “outcasts” set in the planet of Carpegia it details the town of farhaven, the colonists attempts to survive a hostile environment and their interactions.

What strikes me as echoes of BSG is the fact that, in the first 3 episodes the science fiction elements are merely a setting the story is about the human drama, sci-fi being merely a backdrop.

I feel this was, in my opinion, the defining dynamic of BSG, not the vipers or the cylons, but the human condition in a pressure situation.

Thoughts…?

I’m intrigued. I agree with your observation about BSG. That’s certainly what held me. Hope I can catch Outcasts sometime in the future. I’m very curious.

I am as well, I heard about the show a bit ago on one of my podcasts out of England (ScutterCast). They were talking about how good it is, but it’s not available here.
And I know what BadgerSpoon might say at that…

I’ve seen the first 2 eps.
I think it was a huge mistake to kill Jamie Bamber in the first ep. Huge mistake
