I went with Bats. While both dudes always kept plans to destroy their allies in case they went bad Bats had plans to take down Supes if he needed to. It would be a tough battle but i think Bats would eek out a win. Iton man does have a fancier suit though
Truthfully, I’m unsure. But, I went with Batman. I grew up on DC. And, to me, Batman has always been nobler than what I know of Iron Man.
Iron Man. Batman is good, but Iron Man’s tech works differently than the tech Batman KNOWS how to defeat. Thus Iron Man has the advantage, combine that with his suit that kicks the crap out of any gadgets Bats got?

On paper, it’s a brilliant matchup. But come on: Batman.
I dunno. The one thing Iron Man has going for him is he doesn’t have to pull his punches. Batman always has to cover his rear and make sure his ID is kept a secret. Iron Man has no such restriction.
Also Iron Man has the entirety of Stark Enterprises behind him and Wayne has only one guy in a basement and even that has its drawbacks.
I dunno, Iron Man just seems to have the edge to me.
Plus come on, Tony has his priorities in order… Cheezburger first.
I’m going Batman on this one. The tech is a draw, so I’m looking at the psychological makeup of the two guys. The Dark Knight has an edge to him that Tony Stark simply can’t match.
How’s the tech a draw exactly?
Fully sealed and self contained power suit with long range capabilities vs…kevlar and throwing daggers?
Batman has the resources of Wayne Enterprises. But, he keeps the purchases and probably R&D separate to not draw attention.
It’s a safe bet that Batman could find a way to disable Iron Man’s systems. It’s an equally safe bet that Stark could do the same to Bats. That being said, a gadget-free Batman could kick the snot out of Iron Man.
However… if accomplices get involved, I’d take War Machine and Black Widow over Robin and Nightwing any day.
Batplane, Batcomputer, Batmobile, Batcopter, all sorts of little belt gadgets… I think it’s a draw.
Ironman hand down. Unless he’s bee hitting the booze. Stark has a whole weapons division behind him. He has access to superior weapons, armor, strength etc.
Yeah I gotta go with Fass on this one. Stark may booze it up sometimes but he’s still a complete person. He’s not fractured in the same way Wayne is.
From a tech standpoint…
I still hold that Wayne Enterprises’ main focus isn’t weapons development and manufacture and Stark’s is. Stark can fund a war outright with military grade gear coming out it’s exhaust ports. Wayne just couldn’t keep up with Stark.
Stark is a genius weapon maker on a grand scale, Wayne is a martial artist with his primary attack being hand to hand weapons. Wayne simply isn’t in the same league.

However, even Batman used powered batsuits on occasion. This match up is becoming a debate between whichever incarnation of Iron Man vs. whichever incarnation of Batman. How about a match up between a drunk Iron Man vs. a back-broken Batman? (:
Seriously, I think it might be best to ignore both millionaires enterprises and focus Iron Man in his prime vs Batman in his prime. Admittedly, even their primes are relative. Although I’m not changing my vote from Batman (as if I could), this is a harder match up to decide than I first thought.
I’ll second the leaving out of sidekicks as that does muddy the water somewhat and would widen the scope a very great deal and get away from the main focus imho.
Though as you’ve said sir, it is much more complex than I first thought as well and the sign of a truely well thought out deathmatch.
I’m not apt to change my mind either but I give more respect to the dark knight than I might have earlier.
wow didn’t think this would get so much attention but my vote was iron man. and like others stated i’m not sure if its just that i was a marvel brat. but i just think Starks weaponry advantage would end up being the deciding factor. i mean both characters defining traits are there ability to think there way through around, or over any obstacle. and its that, that makes them both able to defeat characters which are much more directly powerful than they are. So i think neither can out think the other, but stark has an army at his disposal to boot. so I think the lush has it, by a nose.
This is one of those battles you love to hate. Unless Bruce is in some sort power suit it’s a very one sided match. That being said if Bruce can find a way to neutralize the IM armor then it’s a closer match. Where Tony is more a tactician and brawler. Bruce is more cunning and those mad Ninja skills come in handy.
Now if they had a another Crisis series I would love to see the 2 of them working together. Talk about a meeting of the minds.

I think the deciding factor would be if Bruce had enough warning of the impending battle. If he did, he pwns. If it was an out-of-the-blue attack by Iron Man, advantage Stark.
