I’ll say: J-Lo can’t speak Spanish. I speak better Spanish and I am a pale, tall, blonde-ish gringa who’s not Puerto Rican or from NYC. That would be A-ok if she didn’t market herself as a Spanish-language pop star. Also, can she please get a new stylist? Thanks.

They are big here!!! that’s news to me. I didn’t recognize her nor did i even know she had kids. I don’t think i know she was even married to whats his name. I thought once she went away from Ben Aflack she fell to a B list celeb. But i must also admit that i could care less about the Latino music scene. Outside of a very few musicians i don’t enjoy the music. Ironically (maybe) one of the musicians i do enjoy is Charo. But only her guitar playing.
Ditto that. I think the whole idea of ‘celebrity’ is starting to morph.
Totally… she’s a joke in Latin America. But then again, in a lot of places, so is Marc Antony 
Maybe I remember J-Lo because she was big back when I was in high school. Plus, making fun of her was one of the points of my favorite South Park episode ever, “Fat Butt and Pancake Head”.
Actually I think her falling celebrity came since she married Marc Antony (or is it Anthony? In Spanish you don’t pronounce a th so I dunno), does anyone else remember the horrific duo they did with her in this blue tent and there was a bed and it was just painful. Seriously painful.
But to the point, that dress is uncanny. She just needs different hair, and a necklace. Though the belt is awesome.
edited to add: talking about a “latino” music scene… well I don’t listen to a lot of latino music (that is, people in the us) but I do love me some classic Shakira, and late '80s early 90s rock en espanol. And romantic ballads, because they just sound less stupid to me than their equivalent in English. But J-Lo? Well she’s not as trashy as some reggaeton (anyone else remember the horrific summer of “Gasolina”?)
Ok…clearly we are exploring this topic. They are a waste of space. To this day I have no idea what J-lo contributes to society or culture. No one can name a song she has sung, nor can anyone say, “I loved her in that movie!”
…which leaves us with the obvious question…why are we paying attention? I don’t know why this subject hits a sore spot with me, but I find the topic abhorrent and indicative of the things I see wrong with our modern society.

are we really paying that much attention? I mean, look at the number of people here who had no idea who they were. compare that to the volume of print, airtime, and bandwidth devoted to the likes of Britney, Lindsay, Paris, TomKat, or Brangelina

Granted I couldn’t name or identify one of her songs, but I would have to say that she did a fine job in “Out of Sight” which is a quite good movie.

That’s a good one. Well, of course I know who J Lo is, but wow, I would NEVER have recognized her on that pic up. But I’ve been out of touch with pop music ever since I got into country. But I have to say, I remember her as hot, up there she looks like … well, let’s just say, if I remembered her as a brand new Trans Am, then she looks more like Columbo’s car now.
