I hadn’t dared put it so explicitly, but I completely agree.
IIRC, this is like Starship Troopers. They had a completely different movie, and then got the rights to the title.
(You should check out Total Recall 2070 a brief TV series that was essentially Blade Runner, but they couldn’t afford the rights to that monopoly, so they bought the cheaper one and just made Blade Runner anyway.)

OK, at the risk of getting my geek card taken off me, I haven’t read the book. It’s on my to do list! I already have a stack of books by the bed, it will get there in the end. I am looking forward to this though. Weirdly enough it’s going to be on TV Friday night.
