I need some help with finding a SciFi movie...

Here’s a challenge for you then.

50’s era sci-fi/horror. A woman starts having visions of an invasion from Mars that looks like a bunch of crickets hopping. They never show, but there is a huge fire and it forms into this giant face that some guy swings a metal crane into because that will ground the fire out. It does. The end.

Yeah, I didn’t see the whole thing.

Are you thinking of 5 Million Years to Earth ? Watched it on TV as a kid and it scared the craaaaaaaap out of me…I guess it was released as Quartermass and the Pit in Europe.

I think I had nightmares for a month ! Evidently I had NO parental supervision !!

Here’s a (life-size) model of the ‘crickets’

Thanks Pike !!
I’m curling into the fetal position as we speak !! I’ll be sleeping with a night-light tonight.

Well, that didn’t take long. Yep, that’s it. Thanks.

well i watched it i think in 2001 or 2002 it was on Space channel in Canada

storyline or what i can remember

well most of the crew turn on each other.

in the end the entire ship is empty the search the ship and than they find the last survivor and than they find the man in jerry rigged cryo tube.

the style was very much in the style of alien

but you have stated as much

sorry my friend but this about all i can remember besides complety unhelpfull things

there was girl with brown hair
one of the men had a small beard and the ship was a cargo ship, not a military one.

Thanks a lot for your efforts, we’d already found the movie, though, it’s Alien Cargo and I bought it off Ebay UK the day before yesterday. I’ll let everyone know when it’s been delivered.

Right, so the VHS arrived today, the case seems to be in pristine condition (it said “used” on ebay), I can’t speak for the tape itself yet. I’ll have my girlfriend’s dad record it on DVD over the weekend and I’ll re-watch it some time next week and then I’ll post a review here.

So, I re-watched it tonight. This is a movie that deserves to be MST3Ked quite a bit, it’s got really crappy writing. Some of the ideas were intriguing, like the NASA probe with the virus, but that was just a sidenote in an otherwise boring movie. I don’t know why I so desperately wanted to see this again. Nonetheless, thanks to all of you for your help.
