I don't know if they are sci fi or not.

I don’t know if zombies could be covered under sci fi, but it is my total disgust for them and in a round about way my complete hatred of the Borg. Has anyone else just been weirded out by zombie movies. I don’t now why the images in zombie type movies that make my skin crawl. It might be the total lack of control that one gets in a zombie. That lack of individual control in zombies is probably why i really hate the borg also. The borg and zombies act kinda the same way, destroying a population because of hunger.

Sorry to rant a little, but its something that has been on my mind for awhile and maybe I just need to talk about it to get the sick images out of my head.:frowning:

Don’t see why they wouldn’t fall under Sci-Fi.

Also, yes some zombie movies are rather creepy.

Have you seen Shawn of the Dead? That might help a bit.

I have seen shaun of the dead and it is ok, more humor that zombie. What i speak of is the outright gore fest that i can’t stand and even though I know its a movie, they twist my stomach and those images just pop up in my brain every now and again. Guess its just me but god I dislike Zombie Gore movies and try to avoid them.

I can see how some may not like them i personally love them.

Another sort of Zombie movie that may be ok is Slither. Its kind of a comedy Zombie movie but not as much as Shawn of the Dead

Is that the one with the slugs? If so, I think it might still be a big high on the gross-out factor. It was rather amusing, though … if not to Shaun of the Dead level (what could be??!).

At least you’re not recommending Squirm (zombie earthworms … honest!)

Think it depends on the background if there is one. 28 Days Later and Resident Evil, both were the result of biological technology, so its sci-fi. Though once the epidemic reaches a certain level, where it can’t be researched or an organized resistance can be put up, does it really matter?

In the old days, zombies came from magic, though even that’s being considered a kind of science now.

yea its the one with the slugs. i love it cause it turns some zombie themes upside down. Like when the Zombies barricade themselves inside a house to keep the humans out. I thought that was a great touch

Mrs. Jarathen is a huge zombie movie fan. I’m prety indifferent to zombies but do like the excitement of zombies that are at least as fast as humans. Shuffling zombies are lame. Screaming sprinting one-armed zombies that are trying to get into the mall are cool.

And zombies are totally sci-fi, because they always posit an alternate reality or future.
