I am still confused about

A couple of episodes ago in dialog between Cavil and Ellen. She mentions how Cavil out of spite wiped the final five memory before placing them in the fleet.

Firstly did I hear that bit right ?

If so;

  1. How on earth can Cavil place them knowing that all the final 5 would survive and join Galactica ?

  2. Given that the final 5 are of set body and facial features they must have been born, let alone aged or did Cavil hijack bodies who looked the same and took their memories ?

This really confuses me. I know there are rumours that the events on BSG are taking place as part of a pre-attack simulation but I don’t buy that theory… still I can’t explain the above especially point 1.

Any thoughts ?

for your first question, he doesn’t expect them to survive. he expects them to die in the attack on Caprica, I think that is proven when he says he wanted them to have a front row seat to a holocaust.
I think he expected them to die on Caprica, resurrect on his ship, and be en lighted and on his side. of course, things did not turn out that way.

as for the 2nd question,im not really sure what you are asking, perhaps someone else can help.

Thanks Sabixx. Missed that.

The second question is about how he got them into colony. Adama and Tigh have been friends for 20+ years. He must have aged… perhaps that is just being picky. But then it leads me into another question.

In the first lot of webisodes we saw the first Cylon war. Why were Cylons experimenting on humans to create human like bodies if they had the final 5. Infiltration ?

Damn the last few hours have a lot they have to wrap up.

Perhaps along with the resurrection technology they also brought the ability to create humanoid bodies. They made John Cavil after Ellen’s father after all, how hard would it be to make the Chief out of the Chief?

Also, wouldn’t that ability be part of resurrection tech, being able to build a humanoid blank?

I know in Razor they said the Hybrid old man was a dead end, so maybe they were trying to use the human brain to control the ships to increase the speed and distance at which the ship traveled. I know they say the human brain is the most powerful computer in the world.

The Human Cylons 1-8 may have been a whole other thing. They may have taken the metal cylons of the time and transferred there knowledge in to the human looking models. The Tin buckets we see in the BSG today are cylons but with the limited abilities due to the chip thing one of the 6’s to off during the cylon civil war. It may also be class society like in some countries.

(Tigh didn’t meet Adama until several years after the end of the Cylon war. The Cylon war ended 40 years prior to the first movie. Tigh and Adama have been friends for 30 years as stated again and again in the Show. So ten years had elapsed before Tigh and Adama became friends. That ten years was plenty of time to build skinjobs and have Cavil kill the finale five.

In the last episode, Ellen tells Saul that they got the cent(a)urions to abandon their attempts to make humanoid life forms, since they already had the technology.

I wonder if we’ll see the original hybrid again. He’s probably dead by now.

Welcome to the forums moiecoute!

Thank you all.

I know we might get a lot of this answered in the final 3 hours but some parts I just didn’t hear or plain old get.

:):o

David from Montreal addressed part of this, but the Centurions were experimenting BEFORE the Five arrived on the scene; my understanding is what we saw in Razor and the webisodes is not related to the Final Five at all, but rather the experiments of the Colonial Centurions.

Both. What Babydama saw was the Centurions’ experiment, but their sudden withdraw and ceasefire was the work of the FF.

Oops, I forgot to mention that “what we see in razor” means the goo baths and people behind the door… my bad.

Kendra Shaw blew him, her and that entire vintage basestar to hell! So he’s gone, unless there’s another copy of him out there.
And I hope there is, since he talked a whole lot more sense than the modern hybrids do.

Thanks Radio Picon. I forgot I knew that. Brain malfunction.

I’ve been giving this a lot of thought since that reveal, and so far, this is what I’ve come up with:

Maybe the spare F5 bodies were all in storage at the same age, like in the late teens/early twenties. It makes a certain amount of sense to come back after childhood/teenage years are over and early enough to have a good long time to work with. And since the F5 were all different ages (sixties for Tigh, fifties for Ellen, late thirties/early forties for Tyrol, early thirties/late twenties for Tori and Anders), they would re-enter those bodies at different times on the trip to the Colonies, allowing them to age at the staggered rates and still maintain some degree of familiarity (Tigh is always at age X when Anders is age Y, etc.) And Cavil, scheming weasel that he is, had started to plan whenabouts the human genocide would be with his current resources and output rates and suchlike, fairly early on. So he put all the F5 on ice and released them one by one out into the world, keeping an eye on everything and adjusting memories as needed. And the spare bodies were aged or… something. Maybe he didn’t know to add the magic anti-aging chemicals to the mix?

The only thing I can’t figure out is that if all that is along the right track, how the hell would they not all be the same age after the attack on Earth? It is a mystery.

Yes, one of so many.
I have this feeling that I’ll still be confused as the closing credits roll on the finale.

To my thinking Ellen did die in the Attacks on the colonies. and then Cavil actually RE-INSERTED her onto the fleet. I remember people saying in that episode that they did not know how she got there. she was just there.

Also, when “head” six became “real” and everyone could see her, she was inserted into the fleet and then disappeared around a corner when she was removed.

I think thats important.

Ok, I’m with you, but how is Cavil able to do all of this without being detected? Is he that much smarter than everyone else? That’s just annoying.

Don’t know yet. but seems like it must be important.

anyone have a clue on what this mission will intale? battle, spc op, white flag?
