This is so cool.
Bought a $2 instant lottery ticket last night and won $100.
Spent it on parts.
Fate itself has smiled upon your endeavor.
:munch:
This is very cool, man. Looking forward to following this through via your pics and posts. Good luck!
Today I got another batch of 375 parts. Sadly, I still haven’t gotten the FIRST order I made. According to the site it’s still “processing.” They did put up an announcement that they are behind due to the holidays. It was an order of 451 parts, my largest batch of the first three, I think. Looks like I will just be amassing parts for a while.
With this order I now have enough dimebag baggies to start a side business in the drug trade.
Cool! That can help fund your next project!!
I was just woken up by my downstairs neighbor who said there were two packages on his porch for me. I guess they were delivered after I had checked the mail yesterday afternoon before I went to work. I’m up now, so here’s a picture of the 975 parts I got from the two packages…
As luck would have it, I have over 2000 parts now AND STILL DON’T HAVE THE PARTS I NEED TO START CONSTRUCTION! Just like any large scale construction project I am being held up by slow suppliers! I wonder if the Corellians had problems like these?
With any luck I will be receiving ten more shipments of parts this week, one from Hungary (which I ordered as a backup to the other supplier that is holding me up). Please oh please, let me be able to start building something soon!
If nothing else, I can start building some of the sections that I will later attach to the framework. As I don’t have the parts I need to begin the framework, these sections will lay dormant until those parts arrive.
When I finally start construction I will switch to my high def camera so the pictures will be nice and not as grainy.
You are an inspiration to me! This is an AWESOME project! I’m watching with intense interest and excitement!
You should write some GWC Blog posts on this project! PM Solai, he’ll hook you up!

I was thinking about that, but I don’t think there will be much to write once I start building, probably just pictures & video.
Have you ever seen any of Sean’s project blogs on Toolmonger.com? He does a great job of pulling the story together. Inevitably there is always more to write about in the planning and procurement stages. But allowing the reader to experience your path with you from beginning to end is the draw, at least for me. I think this project is perfect for blogging.

Just checked and there are no new deliveries. I think with the holidays going on, the post office is having a separate person deliver the packages. Yesterdays boxes showed up after I had left for work in the afternoon, Hopefully the same thing happens today and I’ll have some more parts when I get home in the AM.
On another note, be careful when you use the Aldi brand “Red Thunder” energy shot. I had one at work last night around 10PM and did not really get to sleep until about 7-8 AM this morning! Stuff is crazy good when you need it tho.
Neighbor woke me up to tell me that there were two packages on the porch for me. There was also one stuffed into the mailbox. I got three more shipments of parts today, and I’ll give you one guess as to if I got the one I really need to start construction yet.
Yup, still waiting. I’m betting my shipment from Hungary (placed Dec 19) will arrive before the one from IL, that I placed Dec 12th does. The table is starting to groan from the weight of so many Legos.
After going through all my parts and checking my inventory, I now have only 2403 parts left to be delivered. Hoping for a good day tomorrow and getting my 1 x 16 technic bricks that are keeping me from starting. Wish me luck.
This is a really cool project! I remember this set well, and wanted one! Best of luck with getting all the parts ASAP! I can’t wait to see how it turns out.
Got another 609 parts today. Not the ones I need to start I think I may have all the parts I need to build the landing gear tho.
a Total of 7 shipments came in yesterday and today. I’m now only missing 1751 parts. I got a construction worker mini figure as a bonus in one of my orders. I have promoted him to job foreman. Put down a nice white sheet of cardboard to get better contrast when the real construction pictures start coming in. I marked off 1 foot by 1 foot squares to give a better idea of scale, but I;m going to have to go over them with a marker because they did not show up very well. Still using my iPhone camera. I promise I’ll switch to better camera when the real work starts.
I hope you’re going to pay that workman time and a half. He has quite a job ahead of him.
There’s an army of clone troopers to help him too.
Had enough parts to build a partial landing gear. It’s not the one that’s gonna end up on the real model, but it’s close.
::nod:: Agreed. Totally.
That is outrageously awesome/funny
