How much Star Wars paraphernalia do you own?

I’m not a collector but I do own some Star Wars stuff. I own almost every version of the film. I have the original VHS, CED, Laserdisc, VCD, Special Edition VHS, and DVD (every release). Well maybe that is every version. I even have the NPR Radio Drama on CD.

My first and most prized Star Wars possession is the Star Wars Storybook released in 1978. I read that thousands of times and have recently read it with my daughters. They loved it.

As a child I had an X-Wing, Snow Speeder, and Hoth Han but I envied the kid who had the Falcon and Vader Advanced TIE. I also had the 12-inch figures of Luke, Leia, Chewie, and 3P0.

In the 90s, I bought the Thrawn trilogy in hardcover and it’s audiobook version. I picked up the Dark Empire comics when they were released. And I think that’s it.

I have a friend that has a room dedicated to Star Wars. Action figures, books, models, lightsabers, you name it. I find the obsession fascinating.

Any other obsessed fans out there?

I have the original trilogy on VHS and I’m not gonna throw those away because they’re much better than the silly special edition with all those cutesy aliens digitally inserted into the Mos Eisley spaceport.

Plus, I read Lando Calrissian and the Mindharp of Sharu/and the Flamewind of Oseon/and the Starcave of Thon Boka. And those were about as good as the Star Trek novels penned by Diane Carey: pretty dreadful.

But I had other stuff, an X-Wing, a collector’s edition of the TIE Interceptor (in gold), I read Truce at Bakura, the novelization of the original trilogy, the Han Solo omnibus (it was three Han Solo novels in one book), one Rogue Squadron novel, the Thrawn Trilogy of course, oh!!! haha!!! the first X-Wing PC game came out when I was in fifth grade and that one I played RELIGIOUSLY. I was the first among my friends who got promoted to Captain. Later on I played X-Wing Alliance, which was the first X-Wing game to feature a cool story after the original game. I think that’s it. I’m not gonna name all the Star Wars Lego toys my little brother has, because he’s got them ALL (except the Falcon). It took three people two full days to assemble the Star Destroyer last Christmas.

Great Qui-gon’s ghost!! I forgot about games.

I had X-Wing also. When TIE Fighter came up I was locked in my room for three days, okay I came out for bathroom breaks. I loved the whole Emperor’s Hand thread in the game. The music was kewl too.

I’m a little light in Star Wars stuff.

  • Got all the DVDs
  • Got the Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II computer game.
  • I read the Thrawn trilogy, but those are the only Star Wars books I’ve read (aside from the novelizations of the movies—of which all I have a paperback of Star Wars that came out just before the movie 1st came out in 1977…and yes I read it before I saw the movie). Oh, and the hardcover Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.

I thinks that’s everything.
But, woah, if you ask me about Star Trek paraphernalia…Look out. It would take me all day to type the list.

I never played TIE Fighter… I got confused because not soon after that, X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter came out and I refused to play it because it had no story, it was just a simulator, so I must have assumed that TIE Fighter was the same game or very similar. But X-Wing Alliance was the best one of them all, the story is tight and exciting, the characters are awesome (especially the droid that’s like the complete opposite of 3PO)

Aside from a huge plastic bin of action figures and ships in the boys’ playroom, there’s a light saber underneath my bed right now from the kids’ last battle. We usually have 4-6 light sabers on hand so we can share when friends are over. The light up ones are great fun in the backyard at night. We also have costumes and capes for several characters. Nothing we own is collectible, it’s all used with lots of love and imagination.

Wow. Imagine having real Jedi kids. All the severed limbs and the maiming going on. Survival of the fittest in a whole new dimension.

Hmm…I’m slightly embarassed to admit this, but I have a lot of SW swag. I own about 300+ of the 1995-present action figures (most of my vintage ones, of which I only have a handful, are heavily, heavily played with. One of my dreams is to be able to afford the entire Kenner line, although only opened since I couldn’t afford them MIB), a number of the old Action Fleet miniature vehicles, most of the PC video games (at one point most of the PS2 ones as well, though I got rid of those, along with my PS2, a few years ago), the soundtrack anthology, the original prequel soundtracks and Special Edition soundtrack albums (the best soundtrack collections for the SW films that has been produced so far), the complete DVD releases as well as the collectors’ edition VHS boxed set (the one with the hollographic box), which doesn’t get played too often for fear of deterioration, the VHS special editions, a few 12 inch figures from the late 90s, a handful of the basic line vehicles (including an AT-AT), several books (not many of the expanded universe ones, though. I never got into those), a couple of vintage Micro Collection sets and two mini-helmet replicas which currently grace my office.

I’m a dork, I know.

You are no dork. You are a swag god!!

I’m glad you mentioned the soundtracks since I forgot to. I own them also. When I first purchased them a few years back, I listened to them for a month straight. I remember being in the elevator at my job. The music that accompanies the fight between Vader and Luke on the Death Star II is blasting in my ear and to my surprise (not quite) to the rest of the occupants. I received plenty of strange looks. When I got off the elevator a woman tugged my shirt and said, “Is that Star Wars?” I said, “Yes.” To this her friends snickered. I wasn’t embarassed just confused. What if it were Bach or Mozart? Would it have been as strange? Maybe I should have been blasting Eminem or Fiddy or Diddy. It’s still art and should be appreciated as such. But to my point, I guess they just felt it appropriate to designate me a dork without even getting to know me. I never spoke to the woman before yet she felt compelled to ridicule. I don’t have a harsh thing to say about her. I don’t know her. My only experience with her was tainted by her ignorance and prejudice.

So swag away, Armando!

I know what you’re saying, I got the exact same look from my classmates, because we were encouraged to bring CDs to music class in high school so that we could all see what other people find to be great music. And I brought the ST VII soundtrack. No one but the teacher was excited. First and only time I brought a soundtrack, the next time I brought Bruce Springsteen.

Myself, not too much, we have the videos and dvds, also my husband still has the Star Wars (A New Hope) soundtrack album, (yes, an actual record) and we have the soundtracks on cd as well. My boys on the other hand, lots of action figures, etc, innumerable lego sets, various lightsabers, jedi costumes I made them for Halloween one year, books, magazines, and on and on. My middle son scored big at a garage sale this fall and picked up some vintage figures and ships for free. (the lady saw how excited he was and just gave them to him) Today he saw an ad in clasifieds for a $400 Stormtrooper costume. He is really wishing he had $400. ; )

We homeschool and we love to listen to the soundtracks during schooltime. (I’m always telling my kids they have no idea what a cool mom they have)

Well I have a lot of action figures from when i was a little kid. And I have the VHS 1s. I have the DVDs. And some games.

i have the commemerative stamps  and as i mentioned in another thread, i have about 20+ vintage action figures buried in the sarlac pit behind the bushes at my parents house.
