How do you pronounce “Centurion”?
Actually, this is a good question. Properly said, do you enunciate the “t” in Centurion? Or is it more like a “ch” sound?
Can you say, Wuff?
I say cen-chur-ee-on, but I’m from Picksburgh, so I may not be the right person to ask.
I’m interested to know how Cackleberry would say it? :p;)
cen-TORY-on ? Please?
“Do yinz say ‘Cent-or-ee-on’ 'n 'nat?”
I say Cen-tyur-eeun
Anyone remember the cartoon franchise waay back in '89-'90?
GalaxyRanger might know a bit
Cent-oo-ree-un. In my version of the english language, the proper pronunciation would be spelled “sentuureeon”. Don’t ask.
sen-tu-ree-un
I tend to go with either “cen-TCHUR-ions” or “cen-TUR-ions.” I tend toward the former if I’m just talking, but the latter if I’m reading or have recently read the name.
I salute you Colonel, this is the closest to how I would pronounce it.
This is how a Centurion would say it, maybe
01000011011001010110111001110100
0111010101110010011010010110111101101110.
P.S. I only say please to a Centurion when asking for toast.
If you say " Centurion from Centauri", the Centauri sound, I guess, is the right sound.
I pronounce it kent-u-ri-on, since it comes from Latin and they didn’t have soft c’s!
(Isn’t it odd that the name centurion means someone who’s in charge of 100 people – in the Roman legions, 80 combatants and 20 noncombatants – yet the Cyclon centurions don’t seem to have underlings?)
Yep. I say that one.
From the Latin
Classical Latin -
-cen-TOUR-ree-on
Later Barbarian Latin ( =“Ecclesial or Renaissance” Latin )
- cen-CHUR-ree-on
It’s arguable, but the accepted practice would be ken-TUR-eeon. (as was noted above.)
Yes, I stand corrected. I should have separated that “r”,
“sen-TOUR-eeon”. Tks.
Also, drop the soft leading “c”…
that’s the option i’d pick.
the word has lost all meaning to me now; i’ve said it too much to properly respond.
