How 'bout a national meet up?

In March out there you have to watch out for NASCAR which is the first weekend of March and I think the middle of the month is always more expensive too.

If you plan on Quark’s you might want to head to LV Hilton’s web site and give them a call about room rate discounts on a block of rooms. Might want to put up a Poll and see how many could definitely make in March first though.

I know I won’t be able to this time…but next time…defo!

I can only do one major convention/trip a year right now. So, the crew here is heading to Atlanta in September. No Vegas for us. :frowning:

Im always up for Vegas. If good ideas keep poping up here, im going to have to change my handle :stuck_out_tongue:

If its decided by christmas, that would work great (ill have time to put in vacation requests )

I’m up for Vegas! Keep in mind that Easter is in March next year- March 23. Most Spring Breaks are either the week before Holy Week, Holy Week itself, or right after. So I think that early March would be a safe bet to avoid all the extra Spring Break traffic at the airports. We travelled last year and it was ugly!

I love all the ideas and really believe we can pull this off.

With spring breaks and Easter travel coming up in March (let alone NASCAR action at the Speedway in North LV) might it be best to perhaps move things to February between the time where SW/TX PCA/ACA falls (February 13-16) in Albuquerque and month’s end?

I don’t know if that might help for the LV meetup, but Virgin America is having some great prices to promote its new lines over the country:

"As we enter our first holiday season together, please accept our
thanks for helping us create America’s revolutionary new travel
experience.

Save 25% off your next Virgin America flight.
And the one after that. And the one after that. And the one after that.

To take advantage of this special offer, just book before December 7,
2007 for travel through March 19, 2008*. Your savings will be applied
to our already low Main Cabin fares. And best of all, there is no

save 25% off their Virgin America travel, too.

See you onboard.

  • Your Friends at Virgin America"

This VA code doesn’t help me out in Texas (they don’t fly here), but I just tried a test booking for a trip in February – and holy crap, you can fly round trip for under $140. We need to pick a date.

And they apparently do fly to McCarran. I have been in Las Vegas since the beginning of the month and have seen quite a few of their flights flying overhead. Of course, then again, with the five mile separation between planes you see a plane on approach every few minutes.

Frontier has good fares as well as good service too.

Weekend after SW/TX Pop Culture Association? I will be in Albuquerque from the 13th through the 16th of February. Since I need neither a plane ticket nor a hotel reservation the rest of the month is open for me as of this point. My suggestion would be the weekend of February 22nd-24th. Earlier in the month would be a high fare period coming off of holiday travel and the weekend I state is probably the closest one would want to get to the start of NASCAR season.

And around $260 for a round way trip NY/LV in Feb with the promo code (instead of $400) that’s a pretty good deal too

Yep. For kicks, I tried NY/LV on Feb 22/Feb 25 and came up with $138. Wow.

The Philly Crue could probably get a non-stop flight from the airport there to Las Vegas. I believe that that is a major route flown by US Airways. Other possibilities exist there as well.

As for the folks around Phoenix and LA it appears that Las Vegas is a 4-5 hour drive one-way. From Phoenix you drive up to Bullhead City and cross over at Hoover Dam into Nevada. From Boulder City to Las Vegas it is a 15 minute drive or so. To get to Las Vega from LA you just come up I-15 through Jean and Primm.

Hmm. WonderCon seems to conflict with the date proposed for Las Vegas. This might not bode well?

When ever you guys set it up…if you’re going to the Star Trek Experience and Quark’s keep in mind that there are auctions on ebay for coupons for both. Usually buy 1 admission /get 1 free…or $25 gift certificates for Quarks like the link below is for:

Watch the expiration dates!

Give me a long enough heads up and I’ll be there.

Already planning on being in Vagas from Feb 2-6. Just thought I’d throw that out there…

Perhaps a date can be settled either prior to the next podcast or on the podcast?

Just a thought, and I know we’re all trying to tie this meetup in with the start of season 4 to some extent, but if the trip was a little later, mid-late April-ish, would that impact the number of GWCers that would go? I’m thinking tax refund check availability, it might mean a larger turnout of people if they had that cash influx available…In any event, I can’t wait to go regardless of the dates, never been to LV and am looking forward to meeting some of you!! Been checking airfare from Boston MA and Prov RI and there are good deals to be had for sure.
Just to make things easier, we could also meet somewhere else…How about Sean’s house?? It’s central and I’m sure he wouldn’t mind!! Right Sean?? BTW, is Sean planning on making this trip as well, not sure I remember hearing his take on it…?

If Audra is there, I’ll make extra effort to try and be there!

February is easier cost-wise due to NASCAR not being in play, among other things. There is also talk on the horizon of refund checks possibly being rather delayed in the coming year due to possible last minute tax law changes. Accomodations for folks can get a little nasty cost-wise the closer it gets to summer.
