Holiday Book Giving Ideas

If GWCers are anything like me (and I know a number of you are), you love to give people interesting books as gifts. As the holidays are fast approaching, I thought it might be useful to have a thread to make recommendations or ask for help about books that could make excellent gifts. (beyond the already awesome Book Club selections, of course!)

As an example - it’s technically a kid’s book, but Nnedi Okorafor-Mbachu’s Zahrah the Windseeker was awesome, even as an adult. When I think what it would have been like to read as a child, it’s even more mind-blowing. Zahrah’s shy and different from everyone in her town, but when her best friend is in danger she goes out on an adventure/quest and learns a ton about herself and the world around her. Truly excellent.

So - what books are you guys thinking about giving people? They don’t have to necessarily be F/SF, either (ahem Heat Wave, anyone? ;))

I’ve ordered Heat Wave by Richard Castle for my mom. She is a huge Castle fan and this book ties in with the tv show. It also has a great pic of Nathan Fillion on the back cover.

I like to gift the DIES THE FIRE series by S.M. Sterling. If you haven’t picked these up, I recommend them. There are 6 books in the series now and the first book is titled DIES THE FIRE.
