I think you are. The name “Galen” (like most of the names in BSG) is Greek in origin:

Greek Scot!!!
Douglas. RDM said in his podcast that Aaron Douglas was giddy about Chief going off to Scotland.
Ohhhhh…this is made of awesome.
When they made the Eve comment, I was reminded of the conversations about blood types back when Hera was born. From the comments I (and I think other people) made the interpretation that she was blood type O. Her blood had no antigens. This was not something that they had seen before, so they likely had types A, B and AB. If this is true, then we would have to have some Cylon in our genetic pool, otherwise no type O.
Just a thought.
Smarx, was there a discussion about blood type on these forums? I’d be interested in reading more.
If you accept the dominant “Out of Africa” theory of human evolution then we have to conclude that the people who went to other continents all died out. The migration out of Africa appears to have happened around 70,000 years ago from what I recall, and all humans living today are apparently descended from that migration. So Chief ain’t descending anyone, unless Out-of-Africa is wrong and the competing idea of parallel evolution over long periods on different continents is proven correct. And even if it is it still seems that Europe wasn’t settled until about 50,000 years ago, and the Americas much, much later.
It seems to me that of all the colonials that landed on Earth most of them didn’t descendents. They sure as hell didn’t get farming going, as that didn’t start until about 10,000 years ago, and then not in Africa. Maybe Baltar didn’t remember as much as he thought. And they’d have to domesticate species all over again, unless they salvaged some domestic strains from the fleet.
I am not sure it was on the forum. It might have been on the podcast. I will see what I can find and either post a link or possibly the podcast depending on what I find. Anyone else remember this?
I don’t remember this in the forum, and a quick search isn’t turning anything up. Maybe on the blog?
