Help

Ok GWC. I know you guys are the best forum and the friendliest people on the interweb. I need some support right now. I just found out today that my mom has leukemia. This for me is hard. It is the second time my mom had daughter cancer. I know this will probably mean I can’t go to the meet up in March which saddens me. I was really hoping to meet all of the people I have heard and been twittering with. So if you have a spare moment send some good thoughts my way. Thank you.

Don’t worry about the Meetup, we’ll be having them for a long time.

Sending you and your mom best wishes. Don’t despair. Try and stay positive, learn what you can about her ailment, and help her stay positive too. And don’t forget we’re here for you if you need to let it out.

Sorry to hear about your mom. Hang in there!

Heya Temperal - echoing the positive thoughts of the other guys! Hang in there and look forward to the next meet up, or mini meetup!

BTW, my first R&D grant was at a cancer research centre affiliated with a big cancer research hospital. I just know that you’re going to have tonnes of talented and caring folks fighting right along side you and your mom!

Sorry to hear about your Mom’s diagnosis. Sending positive thoughts and wishes your way.

Stay positive homie…be there for your mom - that’s most important

I agree. You be there for your Mom, we will always be here for you.

Many thots and prayers for you, friend. It hurts to see someone hurting.

Im so sorry, you have my prayers; some unsolicited advice remember you just started a marathon its a long road just take it a day a time, do what you can to support yourself each day so you can support her.

may god bless your mother, and you

Just echoing what everyone else has said. Read up on leukemia. Be supportive, loving, and positive. Like Solai said, your GWC peeps are here for ya!

pm me with details mate, I’m quite prepared to check for bone barrow compatability, my marrow is your marow man, not sure if it ships internationally but I’ll do the procedure if required.
Alan

I’m so glad you shared that with us. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your mom and family.

The meetups are great, but you don’t have to be there to feel connected to our community. There will be a live podcast and SKype and thousands of Tweets, so you’ll feel like you’re in Dallas.

One of the best things about for forum is how we use it to share, support, cry and laugh together.

XXOO

Temperal, I am so sorry to hear this. My mom went through something similar when I was in college and I know how painful and sad and anxiety-ridden this can be. Thankfully, my mom made it to remission–I hope the same for yours. Like others have said, we’ll be here for you. In the meantime, spend time with your mom, share the happy memories and be strong. I will be thinking of you and your family.

Good thots heading your way, shipped express.

My brother had Leukemia and he beat it, your Mama will too.

She must something amazing, she produced a GWCer

Thank you guys and gals. I went saw here tonight. She is pretty weak and dehydrated. She Iliad already started kemo therapy. We are waiting two weeks to find out what the biopsy will tell. After that finding matches for blood t cells and marrow. She is looking at a three month stat at minimum. All your thoughts are felt and appreciated. And I will be looking into skype and all for march.

I’m so sorry to hear this, Temperal. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your mom.

This is the second bit of cancer news I’ve heard today. Cancer sucks. I’m sending some good thoughts your mom’s way. May she kick cancer’s sorry ass back to hell.

Be strong dude. Your mother will feed off your energy so do your best to stay positive and be there for her.

So the Dr. is pretty optimistic about my moms condition. Yes it’s bad but so far things are improving. The oral chemo pills did a better job than expected. Lowering her white blood count from 208 to 61. This is a good sign. She gets her line in tomorrow and stars the chemo and other drug to clear out the leukemia from her marrow which is at 65-80% at the moment. So in 4 weeks we will know more. You have all been very supportive as have others on twitter. ie Brent Spiner Nathan Fillion.

Ok time for an update. My mom’s white count is down to .5% which is really good. The chemo is doing it’s job. So is the medication to keep her from throwing up. She’s had some blood transfusion and a bag of platelets. She got her hair cut really short apparently. I haven’t been there for a few days due to a cold. She does have a slight fever which spiked a bit higher last night but all in all she is fighting hard. It’s good to know that she has some humor still. Thank you all again for the support.
