My old MP3 player has been dead for a while. It was an early one, it had a laptop hard driive in it and therefore was a brick. Still it done it’s job well. What I most liked about it was there was no extra software needed to transfer files to and from it. When I plugged it into my PC it just appeared as another hard drive and I could drag my MP3s to it using Windows Explorer alone. It maintained them exactly like I have my music on my PC, arranged by folder.
So that’s the main feature I’m looking for in a new MP3 player. I just want to be able copy and paste all my folders onto it, and if necessary copy and paste them off it onto a different PC. I really don’t want to have to deal with any other software. I don’t care about it syncing automatically, or anything like that. Something around the 30gb mark would be nice, but I could settle for around 15gb if necessary maybe 8gb at a push.
I’ve looked at the San Disk Sansa and they seem to be drag and droppable. The Samsung YP-P3 has caught my eye though. Its manual mentions software that is included for transfering music, but no information on whether it is optional.
