Has Comcast dropped Syfy from regular cable?

I thought I’d pose this question to the hive mind…

I live in Houston, my building has Comcast basic cable (not digital) for everyone. All of a sudden Channel 60 (Syfy) is just gone.

About 6 months ago Cartoon Network dropped off because they decided to go digital-only this year. Does anyone know if this is what happened to Syfy?

Thank god everything I watch on that network is on hiatus right now!!

On Cablevision it’s channel got moved for some reason, check around your listings?

I just checked, and I’m still getting Syfy.

Maybe someone at the Comcast office took an antibiotic.

Comcast’s website says it’s still the same channel, I’ve jumped around and haven’t found it anywhere else so far. I’m really thinking they’ve dropped it from non-digital cable.

on digital or non-digital cable? Do you have a box?

Non digital, no box. Provided by my HOA.

HOAs suck, they probably messed something up.

I recently was notified by Comcast that I needed to order (free) a digital adapter to keep getting the expanded basic service (which includes Sci-Fi channel) because they will be dropping analog in November for our area. Maybe they are doing the same to you…you should call them and ask WTF is going on!

I can’t frakking wait until Thursday. My husband and I found out that AT&T has started running cable and internet out to our apartment and Comcast is no longer the only provider, so come Thursday we’ll have faster internet (right now we’re getting about a third of the speed we were promised with Comcast), more HD channels, and SCI FI/CARTOON NETWORK IN THE BEDROOM AGAIN! Since I like to watch TV before I sleep, this pleases me.

ETA: Hi there, fellow Houston GWCer!

Oh how I miss my cable sometimes - especially when the conversation centers around watching SyFy or CN. Oh well, I do not miss the bill…I just have to keep telling myself that

When I lived in San Jose, Scifi was never part of the Comcast basic cable… I guess it depends on the region, Comcast doesn’t have a set package for the entire US.

I echo the recommendation of calling Comcast and asking what happened.
