Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 7/9 @ 10 PM ET

The Marauders Map was written by Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs.

James “Prongs” Potter - Stag
Sirius “Padfoot” Black - Black Dog
Peter “Wormtail” Pettigrew - Mouse
Remus “Moony” Lupin

They were all friends at school. Remus was bitten by a werewolf and a kid. The Whomping Willow was planted and the Shrieking Shack built because Dumbledore wanted Remus to be able to come to school. He would be taken to the shack during the full moon to be safely kept away from the rest of the school. The other three found out and spent years learning to be Animagi so they could spend that time with him. James and Serious were large enough they could keep him in line as a werewolf. Harry’s Patronus is a stag because that is what his father was.

The Potter’s went into hiding and they did a spell to help them hide. It was going to be Serious that keep the secret but at the last minute Peter convinced Serious to have them use him. He told Voldemort, which allowed him to find the Potters. Everyone though it was Serious that had the secret and gave it to Voldemort. Serious confronted Peter and the rest as they say is history.

Same rights, just racism.

Well explained–thank you! (It’s a bit exhausting answering all the questions when I just want to scream “Read the frakking books!!!”)

Admit it - you’re only yelling that at Badger.

Thanks, I don’t know what we’ll do for the next two. I just finished Book 5 again the other night and have watched the movie also and I about AKed someone I felt so disappointing on what was left out. It had been so long I had forgotten but the movie is barely a Cliffs Notes version of the story. I am so glad I read the books before movie 4 was made. While a lot of the basic images in my mind were influenced by the first 3 movies, so much of the story is in the last 4 that I am glad to have been able to create my own vision without the influence of “production design”.

Imagine if in Star Trek IV they went back and had enough power for a immediate return trip. They would just scan for whales, beam them up and fly back to save the future. A simple line in the script would remove all the “extra junk” that in the end made that film so great. What they have to do with what in the books is appox. a 20 hr script is condense it down to 2.5hrs. While the overall story is good in of its self, it is the remainder that makes it magical.

Yes, in case that wasn’t clear. I want to yell that at Badger. See, we have a long history, where a friend of his loaned him the first book, which he never read and then in turn loaned me. My husband and I then became rabid HP fans. that was 9 years ago. We’ve tried to get him to read them ever since and he has resisted, much to our exasperation.

Edit: I will say that I am grateful that he is at least watching the movies and seemed to enjoy PoA last evening/today.

Ministry does. Wait, someone else already answered you.
But watch out for him. You’ll see him again

His patronus is a stag.

Yes, wizards are racist against werewolves. It comes up in other contexts (though around Lupin) in later books (don’t know about the movies, as they haven’t all been made yet hehe)

Yes, Badger’s well-known anti-Potter attitude has been documented on several Twitter converstions. Have you ever seen Next with Nicholas Cage? We need one of those eye-holder-open jobbies, some duct tape, and an Ipod loaded with all the audiobooks…

Holy crap a WEREWOLFand a KID?! Sucks to be Remus

=D
