Do you listen to the Bungie podcast? If not you should check it out, they discuss some of the finer details once in a while. I sometimes wish they would put a muzzle on Luke…
I’m pretty stoked about everything. I would be concerned about the jetpack and the needle rifle but since it’s Bungie I know they’ll get it right. They always do.

When I saw the Alpha reach video, One thing popped into my mind when I saw the jetpack. TRIBES!!! Best FSP SHOOTER EVER!!! I just wish they could have done better with the follow ups.
I remember knocking off of shift, coming home, rum and coke in one hand, mouse in the other, listen to the screech of my 56 K modem connecting to a server. Playing after midnight got the least lag…

Server has been down since I got home from work so havn’t been able to try it yet.
Did you get in eventually? The server went down twice while my stepson and I were playing. Not complaining, free game, ya know?
What did you think of the weapons?
I like the DMR, haven’t yet figured out what’s so special about it. Seems like a Covenant carbine to me.
Haven’t decided on the beam rifle, it’s strange but fun to use. Don’t know if they should consider it a replacement for the old beam rifle though.
I really like the grenades and the flash/bang effect that comes along with them.
I haven’t gotten the hang of the preferences yet. Seems like they’re replacing “what do you want to do?” with “tell us what you prefer and we’ll stick you in somewhere you may or may not like.”.
Highlight of my evening:
Not having my low expectations of the human race invalidated. I fully expected to get trashed talked and virtual t-bagged by girls and it TOTALLY happened in my third game. I wish Bungie would have put an “automatic suicide” function in when one vitrual t-bags another player. Or have your weapons stripped.
I’m bitter only because I really SUCK at playing against real people and always have, ever since Halo 1. I’m more of a campaign guy. 
The game type vote is a nice touch, reminds me of the map voting in Unreal Tournament.
I did get in! Might do some more in a little bit, but I want to test out this new fallout 3 mod I got.

Did you try Invasion yet? It launched Friday, I believe. I played a few games yesterday morning. Playing as an Elite and assaulting on the one map they’ve released so far is challenging if the other team has even half a clue what they’re doing. Two snipers overlooking the whole field and two guys at the top of the steps can stop almost anything the Elites throw at them, that leaves two other teammates to do nothing but harass and fill any gaps. The problem is that the Elites start with Needlers which can’t do anything to the snipers, and the Elites spawn in plain sight of the snipers half the time. Bang bang bang and they’re done. This is what betas are for though…
Invasion Slayer is more balanced, weapons and vehicles drop periodically as the match goes on. The vehicles are pretty much useless though, they’re a death trap. As soon as you get in one it is covered with grenades.
