GWC Podcast #75

This week’s re-watch episode, Exodus, Pt. 2, brings us some incredible SFX plus a lot of discussion, and we’re still reeling from Razor. Highlights: we miss Ellen even more than the first time ’round, continue the Cain vs. Adama leadership style debate, question the necessity of Ellen’s sacrifice — and wonder again if she knew what she was drinking — discuss Roslin’s role in this episode and later in season three, and take a variety of listener calls.

And yes, I suck. I didn’t get the cast out until this evening for lots of unprintable, stupid reasons. My bad.

Good Lords of Kobol! You were just over twelve hours late! You will rue this day! RUE IT, I say!

(BTW, what does ‘rue’ mean, exactly? It sounds like a type of cheese, and I don’t think that’s what I was going for.)

OED to the rescue!

rue: To repent of (some act or course of action); to regret and wish undone or altered, on account of the consequences.

Not sure about the cheese, though. Could be…

Yeah, boy do you suck…all of your volunteer unpaid work you do…how dare you! <shakes fist>

Well, there’s the Rue Morgue.
Maybe you were threatening that Chuck is gonna kill the day,
…and stick it in the morgue!
That’s kinda creepy. But if Chuck’s the one doing the killing, it’s not much of a threat on your part…

Maybe Chuck’s gonna thicken the day!
You know, with a roux.
Yah, he’s gonna cook down some butter and flour to make a roux, and make a big sticky gumbo of the day he was late with the podcast.
…that’s not much of a threat either, is it? And it’s spelled differently.

You didn’t mean he was going to rouge the day, did you?

Wait, I know!
Chuck’s gonna Moulin Rouge the day!
'Cuz he can, can can! 'Cuz he can, can can!
'Cuz he can, can can, can can, can, can can, caaaaan!

Awe, forget it.

Toaster, whats up with the poet writing lately?

Sometimes a Toaster has just gotta get his Rhyme on

tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap…tap…taptaptap
Was someone tapping on a desk?
I kinda spazz/freak out with noises like that… not intentional… it only happened at a few times during the cast but :X

Sorry.
Sometimes what starts out as a brainstorm, comes out more like a brain f…
…Lets just say my typing can at times be classified as silent but deadly.

Well, Chuck, I’ve yet to finish podcast 74, so don’t feel so bad. At this rate, I’ll be so behind I won’t be able to watch season four when it comes out because I’ll still be catching up on the rewatch and its accompanying podcasts.

Chandler: You know, I rued the day once… didn’t get a whole lot else done.

You know this explains alot about the French. They all live on Rues.

I know this reference will go right over some peoples heads (cough, cough), but I see Tigh as the opposite of Tom Hagen. While Hagen gave good political advice when the family was trying to become legit, he was considered not to be a good wartime consigliere when it was time to take it to the mattresses. Tigh’s demonstrated himself basically to only be good in wartime. While we now realize why Adama has kept him as his first officer, and he needs to be respected from what he accomplished on New Caprica, his experiences there demonstrate why his is such an ineffectual leader during peacetime. He cannot serve as the ultimate commander in the fleet, and should only remain in his penulti[CENSORED ]…

Rue McClanahan? Is Chuck going on Golden Girls?

Or maybe he was picking out a Christmas tree from a collection of rue evergeeens…

Chuck AKA ‘The Ruester’

Love it!

Bonus: The theme song is ready-made.

I for one don’t like it but alot of us do if it’s cooked properly: rare.
