GWC Podcast #200

This week we just sit around and shoot the bull, taking a week off to reminisce about our last 199 podcasts. If this is your first GWC download, you might want to back up a week to #199 (or grab next week’s #201) to get a better sample of normal GWC content. This ‘cast was recorded with a live audience via TalkShoe and preceded an open-mic party. Thanks to all who attended.

  1. Having my crossroads mall pun-fest call taken waaaaaaaaay back when for #91.

  2. Aliens. Somehow that cast was sooo funny.

  3. Getting a new icon from Sean.

  4. The Cosmos arc. I am now a proud Seti@Homer. Thanks again.

  5. Having my intro to podcast #119 used. The bizarro-GWC intro where all we discuss are spoilers.

I think one of my favorite moments was when Sean got recognized at a store. The dude made him do the sheep noises right there! LOL!

Consider this my formal request for more sheep!

my favorite will be Nog’s junk report…

That was awesome! Wait, am I allowed to use that word? Well then, it was shiny! My brother-in-law turned me onto the podcast, and the first ones I listened to were during the Will Smith arc. You guys got me through some very long flights and waits in airports, and you continue to do so. It’s such a pleasure to be part of this community, and I’m very excited for the Meetup in March!

Sean, major props for sharing the Fantasy Draft Photoshop files with us. I used to dread working with other people’s files because they weren’t as OCD about organizing and labeling their layers, but thank goodness Sean is.

Also, attaboy, Chuck!

In the beginning moments of the podcast Sean mentions that Chuck never gets any 'Atta Boy’s. So, here ya go Chuck. You ROCK!!

Nicely done.

  1. Thank you Chuck, Audra and Sean for sacraficing so much of your time and energy to provide a ‘Geek Fix’ for all of us addicts each week. (You endablers you! :)) And though none of you have ever ‘offically’ referred to the podcast as a ‘labor of love’ please allow me to be the first say- It shows! And it is clearly appreciated as has been evidenced by the continued outpouring of your veteran listeners.

  2. I would like to say what a refreshing change this site has been for me, I found out about your podcast from here. I used to be a regular at another site but it became overrun by trolls and hateful geeks, I searched for a new home and found this place. It was a horrible thing to watch such a wonderful site turn into a ‘Geek Demilitarized Zone’, I came here scarred from the experiance afraid to emotionally invest in another ‘Geek Clubhouse’. But the spitballs never came, no has ‘tagged’ any of my threads or called me any names. Talos was the first person to reply to my ‘first’ post, he was polite and welcomed me to the site and he has continued to be a gentleman ever since. As have many others, Thank you for this geek refuge!

It is like a Geek Xanadu, the worst I have ever endured here is a zero response to a thread. I will gladly endure a deafening silence over childish and hateful replies by trolls any day

  1. The one thing I missed from the other site was the RPG’s I used to run, so I started one here and it is just finding its feet. If you think this is something you might be interested in please stop by the threads in the game section and take a look. As with all things ‘Geek’, the more the merrier. The more that become involved, the more momentum it develops and more exciting it becomes. It is storytelling/writing at its rawest state- you create a character, bring it to life in your head/on paper. Put them into a situation and watch what happens, and then attempt to describe what you saw, so to speak. (as you can see it is hard to describe to those who have not experianced it)

Anyways, thank you for the new home.

And hopefully someday… the new family. If I can ever scape together the latinum to actually meet some of the fine people I have talked to here. God bless you all! (FRAK I am tearing up…) OXO

^^^ Cheers, mate! A happy new year to you.

Hear, hear.

Yeah, I love the concept, but the execution requires some discipline. Keep with it, I’m sure it’ll find its level.

Anyways, thank you for the new home.

That’s the hardest thing to explain to new folks. It’s really not like ALL THE OTHER FORUMS. In fact, we have at least one die-hard member who came in reflexively trolling and quickly realized we weren’t about that when his posts were met with reasoned discussion.

Chuck mentioned in this 'cast that the moderators don’t moderate. And that’s kind of true, our biggest concern is spam. However, the mods on this forum, IMHO, do TRUELY moderate, in that they’ll talk down someone who is hot around the collar. I’m proud of that fact. (And it’s not just the mods. The members do just as good a job–in fact the first attempted troll I remember was in the blog-only days.)

We have something special here. We need to remember that.

GWC: The Friendliest Place in Scifi except for Default Chipmook, the fiery young gun with something to proof. Pakew pakew /Finger guns

Update:

The RPG has been moved to the Writers Forum at the kind suggestion of the moderators. So for those interested it can now be found there.

More sheep and more Uhnold~! And more words like edudicated

Podcast 200. It felt like everyone meeting at your favorite bar, taking over the big semi-circular bench seated table in the far corner, and staying all night. Happy 200th GWC !!

Wait?!?! 'Talos is a gentleman?? Does this mean he put his pants on, or just got out of the bunny suit?

(Love ya, bro!)

Very true words, Omra. Glad you found a home here.
